Almost all the engines with Ti rods can rev up higher than the ones with Forged Steel...
Acura said that by putting Ti rods in the NSX that enable the engine to rev up 700 more RPM's......
Of the Porsche 911 family the one that can rev up the most is the 911 GT3 (8,200 RPM's) in great part because is the only 911 with Ti rods....
The mega exotics use Ti rods all ferraris, Murcielago and Carrera GT....
Forged Steel rods are good but Ti rods reduces the rotational mass which bring great benefits.....
Here is what Porsche did in the new GT3:
Both to retain the engine's reliability at the higher speeds and to reduce friction, the titanium connecting rods have been lengthened by 3.0 mm and the height of the piston crowns reduced by the same amount, saving 3 oz. per cylinder. The reduced vibrations caused by inertia forces made it possible to eliminate the crankshaft damper, saving 5.5 lb. The valvegear has also been considerably lightened: The valve spring washers weigh 0.63 oz. less, while the inverted cup valve lifters, still with zero lash adjustment, were reduced in diameter by 5.0 mm and weigh 42 percent less than before. All this lightening adds up to an impressive 7.7-lb. reduction in rotating mass.
