Default C6 Z06- GM Investigators just left my front Porch

...GM had two goons - Mr Duran and Mr Chiros arrive on my doorstep this evening.

They carried with them a folder of evidence.

Seems they think I stole their property by posting the copy of a link on a forum with a question "Is this old C6 news".

The gentlemen were not satisfied with my answer that "I simply posted a link I found".

And left me with this comment".

General Motors will not let this lie - and we will spend millions of dollars to prove a point.

Nice guys we are dealing with hey...

So I guess I am off to secure a lawyer tomorrow.

(hey - If I need millions of dollors to defend myself - since I didn't steal any images - how about a $5 donation from everyone towards my lega fund.. )

No it's not.

The one gent is from Flint MI and the other from Euless Texas.

Looks like Securitas Security Services Inc is the Investigator arm of GM - the gents conducted themselves like police detectives.

It was a rather frightening and sobering experience - I actually felt more threatened and afraid than if they would have been real cops.

They insinuated they have the power to ruin me - and that I need to be very wary as GM is going to see this through to the end - no matter what monetary cost.

I am not clear with what you posted? A picture? A picture of the Z06 from Z06Vette.com?

I don't see what the problem is. All you might have done is stolen a little thunder from the big unveiling in Jan. What else could come from about 2 months early release of a little info, and the image looks like the spy photos which could have easily been guessed by someone.

I posted a JPG and some specs that I found on a rather obscure website... needless to say, the original poster and hoster of the image has long since with drawen into the shadows - along with the original image.

What we have all been playing with and using is screen shotted JPG the way I understand.

They're going to spend millions of dollars to ruin you because you posted a link? Is this for real?

I could understand if you unveiled some picture of a super top secret project that has never been seen before, but the Z06 pictures we saw didn't look much different than a regular C6... I didn't see anything surprising in the leaked picture or leaked specs. What a bunch of wienies.

They may have been serious when they said they were willing to spend millions to 'take you down,' but that meeting was obviously to intimidate you more than anything else. I wish you luck if they decide to follow through with this (I honestly don't think there's much they can do to you other than being an annoyance).

Well - I sure as hell hope they don't actually ruin me in the process - but yes - their intent is real enough.

They flew a gent down from Michigan to come to my front door at 6:30pm on a Sunday night.

I am just wondering exactly what it is they hoped to achieve by following this route?

I'm not an attorney, but this sounds to me like a total B.S. bluff on GM's part. I would think that reposting something you found on a publicly accessible domain to another place on another publicly accessible domain is perfectly legit.

However, I can tell that you are disturbed and have been harmed by GM's threatening visit. Threats like this may be construed as a form of assault.

I recommend that you countersue GM for approximately $62,000, or perhaps as much as $70,000, or in no case less than the MSRP of a fully loaded convertible. And get the paddle shifter if available.

I can't imagine they'd seriously go through (or put you through) so much trouble for some obscure pic/link/info that no one on this board even remembers.

Also, if you think it's an early C6 or Z06 pic GASP! (we're not talking about nuclear secrets here, people will still buy the car) don't post it from your home PC (just kidding, don't post illegal things).

That seems totaly ludicrous. Just the bad PR that such a threat could create would make it a very poor choice for GM to take. I do believe you could sue for such intimidation and I would look into it!

That's funny, because as soon as I saw the link, I began trying to see if I could find any other Z06i_importimage.jpg files in that directory.

I tried Z06(a-z)_importimage.jpg and also did google searches on that filename, etc...

No luck. I was hoping to find some more. I have spent a fair amount of time (I have no life ) trying to find some scoop and I was rather impressed that you were able to do so.

Please keep us up to date.

My totally layman view is that if you truly found the picture on the internet then they are up a creek. If someone stole that picture and gave it to you, then THAT person is probably up a creek. If YOU stole it, then you may have some legal battles ahead.

The idiots should earn their salaries chasing real criminals and protecting GM against real crimes. Tell them you'll post this incident on every car forum, GM or otherwise, and hire a lawyer to sue them for harassment and threatening you and your family if they come your way again.

I would love to know. Maybe a combination of online username, web forum admin requests for my real address - perhaps they put 2 and 2 together, and found some posts about my car and the problems it has had and matched it to the dealer and got ot that way.

Here I figured I was a bit more careful about linking my Internet persona to my real address.. *shrug* - I guess I lost that battle.
