Oil change weirdnes!
so for the past several years, I’ve been using royal purple, I was due for an oil change, so I did a little quick research on online and was reading several websites where they were talking about mobil 1 holding up better than Royal purple. Since mobil 1 is considered a high-quality product. I’ve used it before and it’s relatively easy to find. I decided to switch back. After the oil change I took the car out for a ride and for some reason, I feel like it was a tad quieter with the valve noise and felt peppier not sure why.

Same Been using the M1 0W-40 Euro for everything for years, great product and usually inexpensive. Vette, van, lawnmowers... They all like it. Annual oil or every 10k whichever comes first.

No matter what oil it is, I could never go till 10,000 miles before an oil change. I'm still a 3000 mile oil change guy, or yearly if that comes before 3000 miles

I used to be 100% that way. Till I did some reading, got some Blackstone oil analysis kits, had some oils analyzed. Modern engines/oils are pretty amazing. The most recent one I did was on my wife's DD (2013 Fiat Abarth, 1.4cyl turbo). 9,700miles on the oil, and Blackstone came back saying it was completely in spec and still had 2/3 of the additive package active in there. ie it could go close to 30k I'm not that brave . The annual oil change is a good interval to do all the other checks & maintenance as well.

Thank you. I looked it up. That is equivalent to PF48 AC/ DELCO. That is for wet sump LS3,s. Manual grand sports are dry sump, use UPF-48R, which is designed with tougher casing for increased oil pressures in dry sumps. I have read here quite a few times filters exploding on dry sumps because regular filter was used. So I do not take any chances. I use what GM recommends. AC/DELCO, more expensive but engines are very expensive!!

I have a 2017 myself. They like fresh clean oil. Use the Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W-40 that meets MS-12991. Your engine will thank you. And don't run it on anything but premium. Those engine bays get hot as hell. It's a tiny little engine making 18+ pounds of boost. Any knock protection you can give it will help.
