Wheel sensor
One of my zo6 tire pressure sensor went bad, and my dealer charged me about 400 hundred bucks, telling it is a special part that has gold (!) in it. Hace I been taken?

The dealer will always get top dollar, each sensor is about $75 plus whatever their labor charge is. Did they charge you an hour at, say $150, plus $125 for the sender? That would be $275, so to me, $400 seems high. I would question it.

Short answer is yes, you got had. Dealer markup is crazy for the Z06 on everything. Should be able to get a sensor for under $100 on Amazon then add on labor, still way less than $400.
As an example of dealer markup, I needed some plastic fasteners for the door panel so I went to the dealer to see what they would charge. The fastener probably costs less than 25 cents but they wanted to charge me almost $12 per fastener. Got the part number and looked on Amazon and got the same fasteners, a pack of 15 for $10.

Looking at my GM account I think the TPMS price for my 09 was like $260 and thats with the shop discount.. so for a new GM TPMS $400 is somewhat high...
BUT here's the best part.. do you know what the date is on the new TPMS?
These have long shelf lives, as in "new" ones can be 5+ years old.. Next time grab some Schraders and check the dates..
EDIT: GM lists for $379ea -> shop price is $229 not $260

Interesting that the tpms for my '11 have only a $134 retail price and can be purchased for $55. You guys with older Zs are getting hosed.
