Default How much nitrous can my Ls7 handle

First time asking a question on this forum, hopefully I do it right. I own a 2008 z06 and I was trying to see what's the most I could push my car as far as nitrous. My ls7 will have a forged wiseco pistons, frankenstein f710 heads, RPM B3 cam, MSD ported intake and Ported nw 102 throttle body, Cold air intake, 2 inch headers and a rxt 1200 clutch. The goal is for the car to hopefully push around 600-650 whp (im hoping). With all that being said what would y'all think my limit is on nitrous. I was hoping for a 200-250 shot to put her around 875 whp. I will for a fact make sure i spend the extra bucks to make sure I have all the equipment to run nitrous properly ( bottle heater, wiring harness, launch and timing control, dedicated fuel cell, window switch ect.).

You didn’t say what rods your running .
from what I’m reading your having your ring gapped for nitrous
if running a plate system I wouldn’t run over a 200 shot (due to distribution)
most people who runs direct port system runs over a 200 shot, you call the shot
this comes in handy to

a wide band

It’s a stock bottom end just with just pistons. Mechanic had mentioned my rods should be good , don’t know how correct that statement is though.

personally I keep it under a 200 shot (being a street car)
u may want to keep a little 💰 back for drive line components
more power means more maintenance

I would worry about the thin liners in the block. Just one hiccup on the fuel side of the nitrous and they will crack. Some are cracking without nitrous.

Many have ran 200hp without issue. I ran 150-180hp for a year or so with no problems. Mine was a single nozzle, dry shot, tho. Just don't activate the nitrous at too low of an RPM.

I plan to run 250hp on a hi ram plenum plate here soon.

You just have to understand blowing motors is apart of the game. A lot of variables that can blow a motor modified and even being stock. But I know of two people who have ran 1100+ boosted plus a shot with just a forge piston ls7. Make sure you have ring gap and tune is on point. On a ls7 I’d do CA625 head studs.

Agreed on the tune. A good tune is important on any modded car, but it's critical on the LS7, because the sleeves are prone to cracking if there's any detonation. Reason being they are very hard and too thin. The biggest problem isn't the sleeve cracking. The big problem is if the sleeve does crack, 99% of the time it cracks the the block, too. I asked one of the most knowledgeable LS7 experts around, Steve Dimirjian@Race Engine Development about the possibility the block would survive a cracked sleeve. He said out of all the LS7s he's seen thru the years that crack the sleeve (usually #7), he's had just one block that didn't crack. Those odds suck. An LS7 must have an excellent to dead nuts tune. With N2O and stock sleeves, the tune just has to be right on.....

Added security would be running the car on E85 and have C16 in the dedlicated fuel cell and a way to pull timing. I use Lingenfelter LNC-2000 controlled by my NOS window/progressive controller to pull timing automatically.

Remember, more power equals more problems. Hope you have the funds to replace the block when it breaks from a cracked sleeve.

Been there, done that.

Well that’s expected
more power more problems
more money more problems

“Knock on wood”
I’ve ran a ton of spray through my Sbe Ls7

The right tune and controller, it’s safe. Yes you can have catastrophic failure if something fails.
But that’s the fun part 😎
Food for thought my car made on a 200shot (Nitrous outlet 102 plate system) on E85
H/C max effort . 767rw
