Is your battery vented?
Just installed a new Napa Legend battery in my 2006 Z06. I've heard a battery should be vented. If so, exactly how should I do this?
Thanks

Most of us have AGM batteries. They have a port on either side close to the top where your vent hose ties into and exits thru the floor .
looking up your NAPA battery looked like it isn’t an AGM type not sure though if it has the same

Basically you need to start with a battery that is vented by design. A vented battery has small approximately 1/4" holes on the cap area of the battery to attach the factory hose. Does you car have the vent hose in the battery compartment? Is your battery vented?

Your car came with a vented battery from the factory, there should be a small hose on the right side of the battery compartment that would connect to the right side of the battery.

I got an ACDelco battery from the dealer and it is vented. I didn't have it hooked up at first. I have recently corrected that.

Let me elaborate a little...The battery I replaced had holes on each side of the top plate. The was no hose connected or even evidence of one in the battery box at all. When I took that battery out, I noticed a plastic bag taped on the side of it with two vent parts in it, one a right-angle piece open at both ends, and the other a straight piece which was plugged closed on one end. So, whoever installed that battery never bothered to vent it. When I saw these unused parts I was put wise to the venting...
So, I searched for a hose all around the battery box inside/outside everywhere I could think of...no hose...
I guess if there was a hose the last owner must have tossed it without realizing its use.
So, I guess I can get a length of suitable rubber hose and plug it onto the right-angle fitting and then into the hole in the top plate of my new battery and use the other fitting which is the closed off one to plug off the hole on the opposite side.
Makes sense to me...any comment before I do this?
Thanks

camburger, you are correct...plug the left side & attach the vent hose to the right side

I should also mention that there was NO hole to route the vent hose through. I hate just drilling a hole, but I cannot see any other way to get the hose to fresh air.

Your car came from the factory with a "wet" / lead acid battery. Legally, that battery needs to be vented to outside the cabin as they out gas Hydrogen. Look for the vent as the other guys have mentioned.
FWIW: even some dry cell batteries need to be vented, as they need to be vented since they also produce hydrogen but only when overheated/overcharged.
