Need help with unusual noise from the engine
I've heard this noise recently and am pretty sure its coming from the right side of the engine below the fuel rail cover. In the video, try to ignore the classic LS7 sewing machine tick, and listen to what sounds like a squeaking - cricket like sound that gets faster as you give it gas. Almost sounds like a busted wheel on a bad shopping cart you get at the grocery store.
Car is a 2008 C6Z06 with 18k miles. Bone stock LS7 with only a Halltech intake and catback exhaust.

BTW...car idles fine, has normal power, and nothing unusual as far as driving. At first I thought it was the drysump as there is a recall for that of something coming loose, but the sound is very distinct towards the fuel rail cover.

Im still voting on a failed lifter. Take the belt off will know. Also it’s not the drysump at all.

You might get lucky once you pull off the serpentine belt and have the noise go away, but I'm intimately familiar with that sound and it's never good.
I'm also intimately familiar with how a lifter can get stuck in the lifter bore so I'd definitely recommend not running it anymore than you absolutely have to.

+1 on a failed lifter.

Bummer brother. Sorry to hear. No way to really get to it without the head coming off.

Yes, pull the belt. It takes like 5 mins, if you are somewhat familiar under there, to do this test.
Then you will at least know more and maybe no longer be burdened with hideous uncertainty.
