Prices Coming Back to Earth
#21
I keep my eye on the prices of C6 ZR1s and the C6 Z06 as one of these is going to be my next Vette. They are coming back to earth and deals can be found. What say you? Here's an example. A little mileage. I wouldn't care as the car would be driven less then 7500 miles a year. This is a one owner car.

in the long run if you can find a sub 20k mile car you might be happier, depending on how much you plan to drive it.
I got mine in 2018 (previously owned one in 2010) and have spent just over $7k in parts alone and looking through the list, many of those parts have since doubled in price.

Wouldn't sell our '06 Z for less than $49k - 50k with 35k miles, all stock and heads done. And wouldn't even sell then. I really don't think the C6 Z06 and ZR1 will ever be cheaper ever again due to scarcity and uniqueness. These 2 vettes are so special and rare in so many ways. They were on sale pre 2020, not now.

Haha I said this exact thing for why I'm waiting on a 2nd gen R8 for Feb/March. I still have my Z but sold my RS3 and M3 and waiting for a nice Performance+ to be available with sub 30k miles for 135k

A general observation which leads to a question I suppose. I too have been watching ZR1’s for the past three months or so. I just saw 2 2013’s with mileage in the low 20k sell for $75k and $78.9k. I still see 2009’s and 2010’s are plentiful but their asking prices are $80k plus, plus, plus, there are a few deals out there in the $70’s and the oddballs in the high $60’s but the mileage is high and not a color I would consider. I suppose anyone can ask whatever they want as it is their car, maybe they are not truly interested in selling it. I will be purchasing a ZR1 soon but have kind of settled on 2012/2013 for nothing more than the interior upgrades. Now my question, is there something else I am missing on the earlier models that makes them demand more money than the later models? I know all of the “niceties” and improvements Chevy added from 2009 to ‘10 to ‘11, etc. so I’m just not sure if I am missing anything market wise. I would assume due to smaller build numbers that the newer model years would be worth more but recently that doesn’t seem to be the case - thanks all!

I am also waiting patiently for C6 ZR1 prices to come back down. There are so many that have been for sale for months and months and even years. I truly feel the bubble has burst. The only ones who think they are worth these prices are the ones selling them or the ones who already own them. I would think by now the market has spoken loud and clear and the prices would start becoming reasonable again but that message isn’t getting across just yet. That and most who are selling aren’t in any financial trouble where they need to sell. You’d think upkeep, insurance, garage space would eventually be a factor in wanting to finally sell. So far I guess it hasn’t. Good thing I’m very patient.

Don't some of the earlier models have issues with vibration in the rotors? As far as I know, all years have the POSSIBILITY of: (i) issue with the gas smell,(2) dash peel and (3) coupler- which is the easiest of the 3 to fix..So, when looking at prior sales, you would want to know about at least those issues ( in addition to the car fax and trim level) to make sure you have an apples to apples comparison. Good luck with your search ..I held out for 2 years to find my Centennial, but it was a worth it.

a cnbc interview with porsche ceo North America back in 2021 talks to this aspect of the business and managing supply chain to keep demand and prices high. The buying public has 2 choices succumb to this or don't play along. Depends on how bad you want something.

I sold my 2010 JSB 3ZR at the beginning of 2021 for a ridiculously low price compared to today's prices. It didn't bother me too much at the time since I only paid $60K with just under 12K miles on it in 2019. It will always be "the one that got away" for me.
The car I have now is also Jetstream blue, but with the mag ride option that was only offered in the Grand Sport starting in 2011 (EDIT: Confirmed not available for Z16 in 2010 - it wasn't even an option on Z06 in 2010, and in 2011 the Z06 required Z07), I suspect it is even more rare than my ZR1 with the Dark Titanium. It's just not nearly as fast.

Well, if it's Jetstream Blue, they didn't make very many of them (ZR1). Carlisle Blue is even more rare. They stopped making JSB in the middle of 2011 after the Fukushima incident. That paint (or at least some part of it) came from Japan.

Meet the seller, drive it. If it grunts, it's worth the trip. LS7 grunt is unmistakable

Yes, the Z07 version might qualify as being a little closer to that, although I’ve never had anyone notice the difference when looking at mine.

The C6 ZR1 is a totally awesome car for sure but I wouldn't call them rare......4,695 ZR1's were built from 09-13 & Autotrader has 24 for sale as of today

Love the z07 package. I'm just saying for people saying these cars are "rare" its really because we all love the cars and they're special to us hah. However in the grand scheme of production cars they aren't that rare or unique, heck I'm pretty sure my Z shares a steering wheel with a coworkers old Chevy Lumina haha

With 4684 made world wide I would consider that rare. Generally speaking you hardly ever see one. Hell they made more C4 ZR1’s and I’ve never seen one on the road. Just my two cents.
