Another stupid frustrating f****ng problem!
I hate cars sometimes. Today is one of those times. Today for NO REASON, the car decided it didn't want to have any more power to the doors or switches in the doors...the fuel door, the rear hatch, and I'm sure a few others. Car had ZERO problems when driving to my buddies house about 30 miles away. We were tuning the stereo in the car (with a power supply the same way we have always done it, so no battery drain or anything) and then boom. No power in the doors. Car runs and drives fine (drove it 45 minutes home) no check engine lights, no warning lights or indicators, no nothing! Just no power to doors, door open buttons, window switches, pressure pads, the red lights (lock indicators), mirrors, etc. BUT! The door lock switch will beep when I push it. I did a search on here and saw some older threads about dudes having similar issues, but theirs were never updated with what happened, or troubleshooting steps. I've checked EVERY fuse in the BCM and under the hood...all good. I replaced the Key FOB battery, nothing. I disconnected the main battery (both leads) for 20 minutes, reconnected, NOTHING. I hate dealerships and I would hate to have to go get told it's a bad BCM and the standard BS answer they give you. Does ANYONE have any ideas or fixes?
Stupid cars.
Stupid cars.

When something goes wrong with my car that I don't understand, I tell myself that I am just not smart enough to figure it out. That pisses me off, so then I go and learn what I can to gain a better understanding. Never do I call my car stupid.

The gear is not "new"...been running it for 3 weeks now. This was a "sudden" was fine one second, and not the next second.

Take a step back, compose yourself, attack it again later. It’s probably something silly. I don’t know how many tools I’ve lost cause I threw them in anger over something I couldn’t figure out at the moment then fixed the next day in ten minutes.

I'm leaning towards a ground being vibrated loose from the abundance of bass. But I don't know which ground(s) it could be since it's only certain circuits. It could NOT be the main ground behind the passenger seat since the car wouldn't start or run if it were. Maybe one of the BCM grounds? Under the center console/dash?

I might have called my car stupid a few times. I've also called it far worse things!! But stupid would be the only thing you could print here!!!

Burning Brakes
its almost always a bad ground or shorted wire.
check and clean all grounds and check every harness for rubbing on a bracket or piece of metal.
gm likes to tie thier harnesses to tight to the motor or frame
look for plastic dust from plastic wire bundle wrap, also look for shiney metal.
sometimes the actual wire rub thru is microscopic and cant be seen.
I once traced a ficm harness short in my 04.5 lly durmax.
took me 5 hours tracing the wires to find it.
the black plastic dust and shiney bolt head on the bracket lead me to it

I threw tools in anger when I was young, maybe 50 years ago. That got expensive, and dangerous, so I quit throwing them. I still have a pair of needle nose pliers I keep around that were badly damaged. They were straight nosed needle nose. Nowadays, you've probably seen the special needle nose pliers that have that 90° bend at the end? Well, I'm here to tell you I have a pair I made in anger, decades before they were available to the public!!!!

Even after being installed for 3 weeks, I'd go after the most recent installation. No idea what was done to complete the installation but if you used anything like crimp splices, electrical tape or any other less-than-perfect practices, I'd start by verifying there.

I did the ENTIRE install from start to finish. I'm intimately familiar with every connection. I appreciate the thoughts thus far...As much as I'm dreading it...I'm going to take some time off work and pull the system out AGAIN and re-do the connections and trim wires to the appropriate length for the final install. But unless I find a glaring problem, I don't think this problem will have anything to do with the stereo.

Power and ground Start there. Look at where you pulled power for the radio (which is still working???) And where you attached for ground. Perhaps you have power to everything but left a ground wire off or loose.
I have no idea what you installed. Just a head unit? A thousand watt amp?? Did you overload the BCM???
