*UPDATE*
See my last post for an update on the horn honking.

My 2010 ZR1 has started something totally new. I shut the engine down and everything is normal. When I get out of the car I get no errors or red lights. When I shut door the horn honks 3 times. I cannot find anything wrong at all. The key is with me so I know it wasn't left in the car.

Any ideas?

I have has this happen to me also, not every time though. Curious to hear as well.

Yeah, mine isn't every time. But it happens 3 out 4 times when I shut the car down and get out. Only for the past 3 days. Never happened before.

My 08 z06 does that if I get out n shut the door standing near the fender. Something about the receiver still thinking the fob is in the car. If I shut the door and make sure I'm standing by the quarter panel it never does it. Too many electronics

After doing a quick search it seems like we are not getting away from the car fast enough and it thinks the FOB is still inside. Suggestions were made to just turn off the system in the DIC.

I guess I will turn off the reminder. It just seems odd that this starting now. I have driven the car for almost 12 years and it never did the reminder honking unless I really left the key in it.

Apparently each each car/FOB is different. My 2013 GS almost never did this. My 2012 ZR1 does it all the time, to the point that I turned the reminder off.

My Z06 does it every now and again when I'm slow to move away from the car after closing the door. Especially as I tend to put my fob in my right pocket so it ends up closer to the car as I'm walking away.

I think it's definitely the fob - my GMC Yukon does it all the time but 08 Z06 never that I can remember. Glad to hear there is a way to turn off the reminder cuz it's annoying. Thanks, I learned something.

Now is a good time to replace the FOB battery and eliminate that as a potential problem
Thought, does it do it with your other FOB???

My 09 ZR1 does this randomly as well. Glad I saw this thought I was the only one 🙂

UPDATE:
I turned off the reminder in the DIC 3 days ago. I left it off for about 1/2 day driving the car a few times. I turned it back on two days ago and it has not done the honk 3 times yet. Maybe the sensor needed to be "reset".
