18 inch rims on a ZR1.
If you have a Zr1 and are running 18 inch rims please help me out with tire sizes. So if I get a 345 35 18 in back what size do I get for the 18 inch front ? 275 40 18 or 275 35 18. I don’t wanna throw off the car and get the service active handling crap. Wanna throw the drag radial on with front tires and go. If you have 18 s on your z show me what front tires you are using.

I went and got some M/T drag radial for the rear. 305-35-20s. The Zr1 is new to me so I didn’t know that they are too tall and threw my car into limp mode. I was lucky and M/T took the tires back. I’m trying to avoid this again. The tire sizes are all new to me and don’t wanna spend money for no reason.

Rolling diameter has to be as close as possible
that’s why Stock height is a 30 on a 19” wheel and the rear is 25 on a 20” wheel, the front is taller to accommodate the rear taller wheels diameter
if your wheel diameter is equal on all 4 corners (18’s) then having an equal height would still keep you within close to the same rolling diameter to keep your cars handling system happy
that’s about as dumb down as I can explain it lol

To keep the stability control system happy you need about a 1" difference in tire diameter front-to-rear, with the rear being larger (factory is a 0.9" difference front-to-rear).
For your preferred rear size the best front tire size would be the 275/40/18, which is 0.8" shorter than the 345/35/18. The 275/35/18 tire is an inch shorter than that, which might trigger the active handling fault.

I run 275/35R18 (F) 335/30R18 (R) Toyo R888R's
I may have to try dropping to a 30 like Chubbs to see if there is any difference.
Chubbs are you running factory offsets?? my 295's rubbed just a touch on the fender well, my offset up front is 21.

I was always taught ask any question cause it might be relevant to you but maybe not to someone else. That being said, I find it extremely interesting in the choice of your words. Let me dumb it down for you, it wasn’t layman’s term, or let me explain for you.

wait… did saying dumbed down offend you? I’m confused why that got your attention so much.

I don't have a ZR1, but I replaced the OEM wheels and tires on my GS with smaller wheels and tires ... However, the replacement tires have more sidewall and are slightly taller than OEM.
Replaced OEM front 18x9.5 wheels and 275/35-18 tires . . with . . 17x9.5 wheels and 285/40-17 tires
Replaced OEM rear 19x12 wheels and 325/30-19 tires . . with . . 18x11 wheels and 295/40-18 tires
The replacement front tires are 0.4" taller than OEM. . . The replacement rear tires are 0.6" taller than OEM.
And of course, more tire sidewall front and rear.

Some pics of my new welds for fitment examples.
lowered on stock bolts all in rear some in front.
Weld S77 series (looks like they would clear the zr1 calipers) id verify w weld
these tire sizes seem to keep active handeling happy
18X10 front w/ 7.1 b.s. & 295/30/18 toyo R888R
18X12 rear w/ 8.6 b.s. & 335/30/18 toyo R888R
