True. Still fast in stock form though. Not many cars are 505HP and ~3100lbs and can be at my power level for under $5k. Theres a video out there from 2009ish of a stock c6 z06 with drag radials and the mufflers cut off running 9.97. Not many cars today out there could do that and if they can, they are certainly considered fast.

I guess different strokes for different folks though.

: 1:34.43 - Michelin PS Cup 2
1:37.83 - Michelin PS4
So looks like the C6 Z stacks up very well still. Plus it is a much more analog feeling car vs. C7 and C8. Much more driver seat of the pants feel.

Newer cars have been optimized for magazine glory numbers, with gearing, auto boxes, launch control and uber nannies...basically all but eliminating the human factor.
While trap speed does tell a story, these cars were conceived to be great on a road course...and to that end, with a few small tweaks continue to be relevant and above all, rewarding. Having been fortunate to have experienced a few more modern cars, I can say that these remain more 'fun' to me and I always look forward to getting back into mine.
Anyway, to each his own, but the telling factor for me is that I really don't lust after something newer, because to me they are less involving by design...despite being better in some ways.

I've been on Laguna on both Pilot Super Sports and Cup 2. The Cup 2's are really awesome when new on track, but the PSS are no slouch on track either. And I've owned PS4 which on the Z felt the same as the PSS . I would guess the Cup 2's are about a 1.5-2 sec advantage at Laguna with Randy driving. So that still doesn't lose the advantage over the C8.

Don't get me wrong, I love my C6 and have owned three of the four Z variants (all but Z07), but I am still enamored by the possibilities of the mid-engine platform. If the C8 Z06 doesn't come in at or above C7 ZR1 performance, I will be very surprised.
