Mild or baby cam recommendations
I am considering an aftermarket cam for my 2006 Z06 and want stock or very near stock like drivability and no additional exhaust smell if possible. Some lope at idle, but without a lot of car shake. I would like to pick up 30-40rwhp and get to around 560rwhp. My car is currently at 526rwhp with the stock cam, Calloway Honker CAI, NW 103 TB, Mamo ported MSD intake, 21st Stage 2 CNC ported heads milled at .20, tumble polished intake valves, stainless exhaust valves, bronze valve guides, .685 lift BTR duel spring kit, Dynatech stainless long tube headers, high flow cats and X-pipe, dyno tune. I was looking at the AHP Cali 116 cam, Cam Motion LS7 Stage 1 or 2 cams, or having 21st Century Muscle Cars spec a cam for me given my HP objectives and concerns about drivability, increased exhaust smell, shake, etc. I was wondering if anyone has put one of these cams in their cars, how they liked it, drivability and what kind of power it's making. Or if you can recommend any other cams such as maybe Comp Cams. I may just stick with the stock cam, but am exploring this to see if it would worth pursing. Also of note, I am an older guy, not a hot rodder, and my car has very low miles and in pristine condition. I am trying to increase the performance a little without sacrificing drivability, reliability or value. The car drives absolutely perfect now, sounds awesome and is very fast. I don't want to ruin a good thing, but I was just wondering if I can make it just a little better given what I have done already.
Thanks for your input.

Cammotion stage 1 - great driving manners especially during low throttle low rpm situations. I had a Titan stage 3 before and it surged like fking crazy so swapped it out. Lost a lot of power but I am happier driving it. Makes around 520whp - stock other than cam.

That's the cam I would choose considering your requirements
With -6° of overlap, it will have a slight lope at idle, but without a lot of car shake.

Cam Motion will grind you any cam spec you want for the same price.
With that in mind, I would use the same specs as shown above [but] ... change the lift to .600" / .600" (Using 1.8 Ratio Rocker Arms)
Your entire valve train will last a lot longer and your valve springs will thank you for it.

Back about 3 years ago, Cam Motion had an LS7 stage 2 with the following specs... 222/234 .612 in .603 ex 118
Thats the cam I was planning to do if and when I replace my stock bump stick.

Drifting
As someone who was nervous about adding a cam to my car, I have to give credit and my stamp of approval to the American Heritage 116 cam. Excellent street manners, parking lot manners, but a burst of power when you want it throughout the powerband.

Good to know. I'm certainly a bit nervous about it as well. Thanks for the input. Looks like there is some good feedback for AHP and Cam Motion cams.

Melting Slicks
I guess the Camotion Titan King (242/258 - 113) is out of the question. How about a Katech torquer 116? They have a 110 too. The 116 would be smoother (220/244 -116).

I think those are going to impact drivability more than I would like. I don't see going less than a 116 LSA. The torquer is worth investigating, but my performance shop is not recommending it.

I recently had an AHP 116 installed during head fix, With under 17k miles on it I was looking for the same thing, stock drivability and reliability, with a power bump and better sound (kept stock exhaust). For me, it’s just perfect, I wouldn’t go more or less at this point. I had them set the idle at 700-750, rocks at idle a little more that my wife likes but for me it’s gives it the right amount of attitude.
Next tune, I may have them set the idle at 800ish to reduce it a little for her, but that’s a firm maybe.

That's good to know. I would think with all my other mods, my car should be somewhere in the 560rwhp range with the Cam Motion Stage 1 if your car is stock other than the cam. I'm making more than 520rwhp now with the stock cam. Stock C6 Zs average around 450rwhp, so you gained 70rwhp with a mild cam alone.

I would recommend our LS7 Torquer 116 for what the OP wants. It idles pretty smoothly with a bit of chop and has great driveablity. That being said it won't be as smooth as stock. Its still a cammed LS7.
