Do Any Of You Regret Buying a Z06?

I love the car and would likely buy another one but there are issues that we all know about. Heads of course but leather quality is substandard, headlights wear quickly due to soft lenses, radios are junk and the cars tend to have more electrical problems than they should including my car that can't last two weeks without driving as the battery goes dead. Of course there are solutions for all these issues, just throw a few dollars at it.
The biggest issue for me is that I have a bad back and getting in and out of the car can be difficult. I've learned to do a bit of a bunny hop to reposition my left foot before I sit down, but a few people have noticed how I get in the car and ask what the heck am I doing
Do I regret buying the car, no!

I was absolutely gobsmacked when I heard it the first time around. Wish it conveyed the bass and the chest pounding over the camera.

No regrets. My dream car exactly for many years, a real blast to drive with the 4.10's, third gear is the one that is going to get me in trouble.
I have it the way I want it, there is nothing on the list to do.

Yep, I regret it completely to be honest. I bought an 07 with 54k miles on it last April. Now it has 57k on it because after spending the money on new AHP heads back this past March it decided to shear titanium off off the rods and spun a couple bearings. It’s currently sitting in the garage until I can find the cash to rebuild. I wish I would have gotten a grand sport
I feel for ya man. Only got to drive it 3000 miles.

I bought mine new in 2006 and drove it till 2019. Along the way I put 110K+ (S)miles on it. I can honestly say that it was the most rewarding and fun car I've ever owned. Nope, nada, no regrets what so ever. I just hope my new 2020 C8 can deliver the same excitement too.

2021 C6 of the Year Finalist - Modified
Just my opinion, but .... The best thing anyone that owns an LS7 can do is scrap the titanium valves and install a set of quality hollow stainless steel intake valves and solid stainless steel exhaust valves ... of course, that's after getting the valve guide alignment machined / corrected.

I have a 2011 Z07 SSB with the Carbon package. I bought it in 2014 and have ZERO regrets. It's a beast in stock form. I knew up front that the heads would need to be addressed at some point so I purchased a GMPP warranty. When the warranty was about to expire, I took it to a race shop in Mooresville NC to pull the heads, and they were out of spec. They also found a lifter issue developing and was effecting the cam lobes. GMPP paid to replace everything. At my expense the shop then re-machined the new heads and I upgraded the exhaust valves to Titanium, custom cam, CHE Trunnions, and springs, new oil pump. (shop had it all apart. The adjuster said replace it, so why not). Also had the Intake valves sent back to Del West to be properly coated and polished.
I track my car and before the engine work I had fun picking on the GT3's! Now with the engine upgrades and a few more ponies it puts a bigger grin on my face. I drive the car like it was designed to be driven.

In addition I can't abide your valve choices.

lots of titanium in the oil, blackstone confirmed it. Caused the bearings to wipe. They pulled the motor and opens the bottom. Shop said block is still good but I basically just had it towed home and pushed into the garage. Motor is under a tarp in the back yard until I decide what to do with it all. Buying it pissed the wife off, she was furious when I had to turn around and put new heads on it just in case. When it started clacking so loud you could hear it knocking over the exhaust I told her it needed a rebuild it almost caused a divorce

I have never found them to be decent street cars. For that I like to drive cars that are more comfortable and that I don't care about the wear and damage daily use can bring with it.
By my own doing of course it's the most expensive and unreliable (electrical and heat related) car I have ever owned by far. It's also the car I love the most and is the fastest of all the cars I have ever had.

I loved my 2008 Z06 and I never worried for one second about valves, guides or rods, being that I always had a GM backed warranty on the car. What was always in the back of my head, was that there was a ZR1 somewhere out there with my name on it. The blower, the carbon fiber, the huge brakes and 638hp had to become mine at some point. Two years ago, I found the ZR1 and bought it. I don't regret selling the Z06 at all. It was a great car, but it's no ZR1.
