It impacts all years. Do a quick search and you will have all the answers you need. This issue comes up no less than once a week. Ignore users SoCalChvy, Jerrivette and a few others who may chime in with nonsense.

You can drop a few thousand into a cylinder head swap and still lose the motor due to some other unforeseen reason. Just had my torque tube replaced under warranty which was a pretty expensive job.

Besides the head issues a quick list would include
Recalls (roof, headlights, steering wheel sensor, etc)
Endlinks
Axle Nuts
Weak 06-07 axles
Clutch issues/maintenance
Rear sway bar bolts
Fuel pump/sender issues/service bulletin
Master Cylinder
Oil temp/cooler on early models
Oil Sump Capacity if tracking
HVAC controls
OEM Tires
Alignment/tramlining/hopping
etc etc etc etc
Edit: Forgot the TI rod issues, harmonic balancers, and I'm sure a handful of other common ones
Yes, depending on year there are lots of little issues to be aware of and plan on

These valve train issues are scarey. I am looking at a couple with 55k miles. Seems like the stories have all Z06s blowing up at 5k miles. This is giving me second thoughts on a C6.

It's a simple fix, nothing to be scared about...and costs about as much as a set of good tires for this car. Find the car you like, budget for and address the heads for peace of mind...enjoy the car.

I looked at all the issues associated with the Z06 through this forum and decided the car was well worth the "risk". The car is just too awesome in so many ways at the price points these days to pass up.

I've replaced two HVAC modules. A lot of stuff I listed isn't z06 specific, just c6 specific. Now that they are getting older, lots of little stuff going out. HVAC units seem like a common failure. Screen freeze up, controls freeze up, etc.

Just got a 2011 with two year GM warranty - will GM do a preventative fix? ; any mechanic or garage in the Montreal , QC (Canada) who can fix the valve guides? I can go as far as southern Ontario.

I just bought a 08 with 9000km (under 6k miles). Step 1 was to have the heads done.
I bought heads from AHP and sent the cores back. A few of my guides were just barely out of spec. Car ran great and chances are it wouldn’t have dropped a valve but I wanted piece of mind.

Scary? What are you like 12 y/o....? Too many threads here to research. At the end of the day YOU need to decide whether or not it is worth the "risk". For me, there is no "risk". I bought my 08Z w 22k on it 18 mo ago... I have modded the s*** out of it. I have had ZERO issues with mine. Current mileage is 29K...

Tommy,
Did you do your own or have somebody else? Please let me know.

I’m in Montreal. No GM won’t do a ‘preventative fix’.
