2009 zr!
I have an option to purchase a car that has been stored for six years now. It has been in a heated and cooled garage. Any suggestions on what should be done before starting the car. The owner put 700 miles on it and parked it in his garage and decided to drive another toy. thanks for any input.

I bought a 478 mile, 2011 ZR1 this past November. Like the one you are talking about, it had basically been stored in a bubble, but had been started on occasion and moved. The tires looked great and had no noticeable wear, but I didn't wait long at all before pulling them. I changed the oil about 3 days after the car arrived. The rest of the fluids were checked and good. Belt was checked for dry rot... it was good too. I've had no tangible issues with my car in the 7 months I've owned it and have about 1365 miles on it now. Did minor mods on it (pulley, headers, ported blower) almost immediately too.
If the car was stored as you say, then I would not worry about it. Some people will tell you all the seals will be bad, etc. And that is possible... but if stored correctly, it is unlikely. However, I wouldn't trust the tires at any rate of high speed. They are 9+yrs old now.

This sounds like a dream come true! Since it was stored in a climate controlled environment, it may be overkill, but maybe change any belts, hoses and anything else made of rubber! Also, give us more details on the car!

I should have noted in the post that the car has not been started in st least 6 years. Should I do anything special before starting it.
I have to change the battery for starters.

But we also need to remember the car was stored well, and all the lubricating systems (coolant, oil, trans/diff fluids, brakes/power steering) are closed and tight. This stuff doesn't degrade sitting on shelves, and it should be very serviceable at start up.
Just my $.02.
If the car is as nice as advertised, I'd do what you're doing... take the time and effort to get it up and running and then enjoy it!!

Someone please confirm that if you press the throttle to the floor and crank the starter, the engine will not start. Do this till the oil pressure comes up for a few seconds. I believe there is a max timeout so you may have to do this twice.
Also, from all the brochures I read, only the 2009 was advertised with a 0-60 3.2 seconds spec.
Cool find, what's the price?

$53k sounds like an incredible deal for a 700-mile ZR1.
I bought my 2013 with 15k miles and almost immediately had all of the fluids flushed. Oil, coolant, trans, diff, and brake fluid. I figured everything (aside from the oil) was 5 years old and I wanted fresh fluids in there. I would recommend the same if you buy the car along with a new belt, new tires, and a thorough inspection of the hoses.
It won't cost a ton to do all of that and you'll have a brand new car to enjoy.

_"SCOTT"_
The above "may" work also but, ...accelerator to the floor without releasing while hitting the start button will turn the engine over without firing it. I've done this many times.
