Sold the C6Z, now what?

Get a C7 GS or Z06. Otherwise, you will be disappointed.

Nice car but...it's actually the same weight as a C6Z (210lbs lighter than a C6 ZR1)...it also has a deficit of 240hp/300tq to a ZR1.
There's just no comparison in performance at all between it and either the C6Z or ZR.
Reliability and low maintenance costs go easily to the ZR1.

HP isn't everything but at 400 HP and 400 lbs less it's not slow. I'm sure it would be funner than a C6Z in the turns too.
Yeah maintenance probably goes to the C6Z but I doubt by that much.

If you're looking for a non-daily car, I would jump on a 6th gen Viper if I ever got rid of my Z06. They are absolutely beautiful inside and out, and with a few mods can be absolutely brutal on the street.
I love this guy's Youtube channel. I'd do something very similar with my Viper if I ever got one. Check him out:

This is exactly my thought process. I hate the fact that the C7 is so heavy.

Wow,
I am amazed how people can compare the differences between the C6Z and C6ZR1 and think they are close. Obviously many features are the same but the differences are so significant that driving them feels very different. Power delivery, gearbox ratios, ceramic brakes, great gobs of mid range torque, more weight over the front wheels are just a few of the difference makers. Doing a test drive in a ZR1 is not going to give you enough time to fully appreciate just how different those two cars are. I own them both. And for the folks who rave about the C7Z, the 200lb weight penalty over the ZR1 would appear to me, at least from my perspective, to be an insurmountable performance negative given such a slight horsepower edge. Mod both cars but that 200lbs never goes away. Not to mention overheating issues. It fascinates me how many definitive answers get spouted to what is such a subjective question. As if all you have to do to explain performance is to read dyno charts.
My only suggestion is to value every pound of weight that your new choice adds to what you had with your C6Z since that will likely be the lightest high horsepower benchmark you will see at a reasonable purchase price.
Loudblazer, enjoy the process and good luck with whatever you chose,
Keith

some truth there...I don't think you'll ever get as light as the C6Z06 Carbon to be honest...I know my "race option 1ZR" ZR1 is 3340lb with full fuel...it almost sounds "light" in today's standards (even back in 09-13 that weight was considered a bit on the heavy side...we can all lol at that today!)

Just my two cents but I had a 07 Z06 with 520whp. Sold it and now I have a 10 ZR1 completely stock. Even though the cars seem to be so similar they do feel different. The ZR1 feels much more refined and special. I love it.

You might be seeing a pattern here I am going to chime in and reinforce it. I have owned two C6 Z06's (one Z07) and a C7 Z06. I have now owned a 12k mile C6 ZR1 for about a month. Taking nothing away from my previous Corvettes it is, without question, as clear as day a COMPLETELY different and better car than any of my previous Corvettes. I cant imagine going back or forward in any generation. Perfect balance, great power and very well screwed together. I am also a Porsche and Ferrari guy just for perspective and the ZR1 is as fun as any of them.....fantastic sports car.

I am a huge Corvette guy clearly which all of us are but the biased responses on here is typical of a brand specific car enthusiast forum. The ZR-1 is a great car but for some of you to say it's worlds apart from a C6Z it's almost laughable. ZR1 - 638 bhp @ 6,500 RPM, 0-60: 3.3 seconds 1/4 Mile: 11.4 @ 130 mph / Z06 - Horsepower: 505 bhp @ 6,300 RPM, 0-60: 3.7 seconds, 1/4 Mile: 11.6 seconds @ 126 mph. The ZR1 has a 133 more hp and to me those numbers are not staggering. The ZR1 just has the exclusivity rights to it due to low production numbers but it is no massive marvel. To me when the C6Z came out in 2006 and started crushing exotics it was something that no one could believe and was a marvel of it's time and still is to this day. The C6Z paved the way for so much which is why I love it so much. My flame suit is ready by the way : )
(I love the way that Z06 7.0 NA engine delivers its power btw and might have made your same argument until I got my ZR1 so no flame intended.)

Do you have plans to mod or have the itch to? If I get a ZR1 the plan would be over 700rwhp. When people have talked about ZR1 with mods and the torque curves I have seen it's exciting!
