Default Stout clutch + sticky tires + sticky track = trip to the shop

Went to the track and did 3 runs. First run I left at idle essentially so I could warm the car up. Second pass I just scrubbed the tires and lightly launched with a crappy 1.7 60' she ran a 10.1@142, it did 107 in the 1/8 which means it picked up 35mph on the back half which is steamrolling. 3rd pass I did a burnout and decided to really launch her. I launched from 5000rpm and slipped the clutch and pow it instantly broke the drivers side halfshaft. It appears to be broken right inside the boot area which is the cv joint. I am going to replace it with a stock one because its had wheel hop a few times over the years and tons of passes so I just don't see the reason to go with the one from DSS at this time.

If you didn't track the car also I'd say it's time for a 9" ford. Just remember you never had this hp before with oem parts. At some point oem just wont work.

I completely agree with you. I'm taking the gamble and giving it one failure before I upgrade to the DSS half shafts.

I'm pretty sure they won't work on a zr1 due to different hubs and I think the zr1 shaft is bigger than the c5z

besides if ya drop in beefier axles the next thing upstream will break instead.. id rather slide in a new axle shaft than a differential!

Ugh ended up that I broke the output shaft. Diff has to come out and is being sent to rpm transmissions. I just can't win with this car

Bah....shitty luck! They were not designed for this kind of abuse so really its quite impressive how well its held up. Apologies on the c5 axles not fitting.

Sorry to hear about the new troubles, you've certainly gone through more than your fair share of frustration with this car. Then again you're one of the few guys who is going beyond the typical pulley and headers, so you're gonna find the weak points faster than the light weight modders.

Does RPM make a transmission or cradle brace for the ZR? I'm pretty sure they exist for the Z06, but I vaguely remember than those won't fit our cars, even though the last few years Z06 started using some ZR rear end parts.

ZR1 have 33 spline bearing fittings the C5 and 2008 and earlier C6 have 30 spline bearing fittings.

I don't like being a pioneer lol
I don't think so to be honest but I'm not entirely sure.

Differential destroyed itself so I'm upgrading the carrier to the wavetrac system and eliminate the spider gears.
