Default Mustang dyno vs others

attended a dyno day over the weekend and had one pull N/A and the other with nitrous. I've always been told Mustang dynos read a bit lower compared to others. Any guesses on what I'd put down on a dyno jet or other non Mustang? The car did 591 on motor...nitrous pull was kind of thrown out because it spun on the rollers which made the tech running it let off a bit and then totally at a little over 6k rpm. System is set to WOT so it didn't reach full potential and did 680 on spray. It should do mid 750s I'd think normally

I know the dyno is a tuning tool and the number doesn't really matter, just nice to say you have a 600+whp N/A car when people ask lol

Rule of thumb is 11-12% low. BUT.. as with any dyno.. YMMV.

I did a back to back comparison on a Mustang Dyno (531 rwhp) and DynoJet SAE (540 rwhp). DynoJet was about 2% higher.

Cool thanks for the input. May be right around that 600 mark or higher then. Just a number but we all like the bigger number

There's really no standard. It's all just approximation. Every dyno is calibrated differently.

Highest reading dyno I've seen was a Mustang dyno about 15 years ago. Read 18 rwhp higher than a dynojet I used. As jayyyw said, calibration.

I've had my current Z06 on 3 different dynos. Two were dynojets and one was an Eddy-Current. Readings on the dynojets were 555 rwhp and 565 rwhp. Reading on the Eddy was 584 rwhp.

I have owned both a Mustang and Dynojet. The Mustang was 10% lower on avg.

That's a nice looking car, I was there but didn't have my Z with me. I'm glad to hear it spun the rollers, because by ear it sounded like the clutch slipped and they let off and jumped on it again. The other thing to consider is (at least on the projector) they were showing uncorrected numbers. Did you get a sheet with std or sae correction?

In my experience eddy dynos are the most inaccurate ones some read very high some read low. I prefer to be on dyno jets bc they always seem to read fairly close to each other unless tampered with. MD I've had spit out huge result differences

If the dyno operator would call MD, they can give you all of the settings you need for it to be properly calibrated. I've done it on an MD-1100SE and that dyno was 12% lower than a local DynoJet on the same stock-ish Viper.
