Gearhead's LMB Z06
As some of you know, I purchased a 2006 LeMans Blue C6Z in October. I searched for over a year for that color in as close to showroom new condition as possible. I found mine in Florida with just over 5000 miles on it and several of the new wrappers still there. It had two modifications, a clear bra and the mild to wild switch programmed into the Homelink and fobs. That's it. I've had a lot of fast cars, I'm a lifelong racer, and this is my first Z. I simply have always liked the body style and color. My goal with the car is to improve on the GM platform and evolve the car into an amazing all around driver, from acceleration to handling to stopping to comfort. So it begins...
After seeking advice here, I made the first "stage 1" modification. I installed 25% tint on all glass. Very pleased with this contrasting look.
Soon after, I made the "stage 2" modifications. I replaced the stock tires with Michelin Pilot Super Sports, and replaced the stock shocks with Doug Rippie Motorsports valved Bilsteins. I've only driven the car once with these upgrades for a short distance, so I'm not able yet to describe the differences, although the tires are noticeably better than the stockers.
Last week, before leaving on a business trip, I dropped the car off at Speed Inc. for "stage 3" upgrades. This involves several things:
- heads upgraded (guides, springs, valves, etc)
- street camshaft (specs at home)
- A&A supercharger (V3, stealth black) w/ IC
- fuel injectors
- boost-a-pump
- MSD plug wires and plugs
- Kooks 2" long tube headers
- Kooks 3" hi-flow catted X-pipe
- B&B Fusion Gen 3 exhaust with NPP
- Corbeau A4 black leather and suede seats
- MGW shifter
- A-pillar pod with Auto Meter Cobalt boost and fuel pressure gauges
I'd hoped to see around 650 RWHP after all is said and done. The guys at the shop have been sending me photos throughout the build, and yesterday a video of the dyno time. I'm very pleased with the numbers, as they're better than I expected. I also appreciate the fact that it's a safe tune. I'm on the plane now heading home, and will pick up the car tomorrow. I'll post pics here as I'm able. I hope you enjoy...

LOL, I was at speed inc monday and was talking to Tom the owner. I saw your car on the dyno. Extremely clean car and it sounded healthy. I have been going to them for over 12 years. Speed inc did my aa kit, I made 649 on a blower cam, headers tune.

Thanks. I've known their tuner for years. He's had some amazing cars including his twin turbo C6Z. He's one of the few people I know who is as meticulous as me. And he's educating me on these cars a bit, which is nice.

Interesting that peak torque is at 6,000+ rpm.
You will love the Fusion III's and will get a lot of favorable unsolicited comments about it.

Congrats on the car....I searched for a low mileage LMB Z as well. I bought a 07 LMB Z with 9900 miles on it.
I'm definitely watching this thread as you are doing some mods I may have done on my car as well. Since I want to address my heads, I might as well do some extras at the same time...

Cool Tomorrow, I'll get to hear them. Retaining the mild to wild function was key for me.

Very nice! I remember seeing that you just recently purchased the car so things escalated quickly. I'll be dropping my car off at Speed Inc. soon as well
