Default Any C6 Z06 running 17 rear wheels for drag and still retaining Z06 rear brakes

I have a base C6 that I want to upgrade all brakes to C6 Z06 brakes, but I want to also be able to run a 17" drag slick in the rear. Have you Z06 guys been able to run a 17" wheel in the rear and still keep the Z06 brakes? If yes, what wheel are you running (diameter, width, offset) ?

C4 ZR1 17x11 36mm offset (I believe) will fit also. That's the setup I'm going for this summer.

The only issue with running those is you need to have the wheel weights moved to the inner part of the wheel barrel, otherwise they'll come in contact with the brake calipers.

This is the combination I run as does many others I believe..... they clear the Z06 brakes with no issues.

Rear Wheels:
Weld 17 x 11 wheel:
Weld Racing Part # 71HB7110B77A
Backspace = 7.7”

Front Wheels:
Weld 17 x 4.63 wheel:
Weld Racing Part # 71HB7047B19A
Backspace = 1.9”

Rear Tires:
Hoosier Drag Radial
Hoosier Part # 17332 (I should mention, this tire has been replaced with the Hoosier DR2.... so this part # probably needs updated)
P315/35R17
25.6” Diameter (I believe the DR2 is 25.8")
Treadwidth 11.5”

Front Tires:
M&H Front runner tire
M&H Part # ROD-11R
185/55R17
26.0” Diameter
Treadwidth 5.0”

Hope this helps and good luck !

Just so I'm clear, that's pic is on a base model (non-Z06), right?
Do you have Z06 brakes?

For a base model car without the wider rear fenders but upgraded with the C6 Z06 brakes, go with the OEM C5 Z06 front wheels at 17 x 9.5 ...... those would fit the rear fenders of your car properly, are inexpensive and light weight. Hoosier 275/40/17 are the standard size most people run...a 315/35/17 will fit too but it brings the sidewall in a bit. No need to run wheel weights if this is a drag strip only package....I don't run weights on any of my drag pack wheels for 1/4 drag racing.

This package will fit over the C6 Z06 rear brakes that you've added to your base car, and will fit within the fender wells.

Thanks for the advice. C5 Z06 fronts can be hard too find but I'll keep an eye out for them. It will add to my wheel collection. I already have 3.5 sets.

No, it is a Z06 model.

The Wheel I prescribe above is on the car... easily covers the stock brakes. After literally 500+ passes and 1000's of street miles, they never rubbed the brakes, nor did the tire rub the fenderwell even once.

Its the right stuff for those looking to go to 17" wheel. I'll add something, Mickey Thompson now has a 28" drag radial for the 17" wheel for those wanting a taller tire, but not willing to go to a 15" wheel.

If you're having problems finding C5Z fronts, try C4 A-molds, Sawblades, or Salad Spinners in the same 17 x 9.5 size. Add 1# to the Z wheels for each in the same order.
Unless you're in the 600+ hp range, the 275 Hoosier hooks best.

I assume you're wanting the Z06 (J56) brakes for appearance reasons, since they'll slow you down in the 1/4 mile and better pads on base brakes will stop you quicker.
