Aftermarket seats: how much better
Hey anyone have high end aftermarket seats that drives long distances?
Im about to pull the trigger on a used set from a member since I drive 4 hours per day to NYC and back.
These have power lumbar etc. Carragavio or something like that.
So are they an improvement or just hype and good looks?

I have no experience with them. I have actually never even seen a set of Caravaggios(sp?) in person. I do however know that they are a highly respected vendor that is very expensive.
If if you found a used set at a price that you like, I don't see how you could go wrong.
That said, I have driven my car coast to coast and have always found the seats to be great for cruising.

I have the Caravaggio Daytona seats that have all the factory controls with tilt etc.
I love this seat for driving especially spirited driving. The stock seat was too bench-like for my enjoyment.

Depends on which high end seats and more importantly the user. Your going to heat 10000x different things. No way to get a good answer on if something is comfortable. So a 5'6" 130lb guy they maybe great. To a 6'5" 350lb guy you are going to get a different answer. I've never found an aftermarket seat even close in comfort to a factory seat.

The cheap aluminum frame was cutting/tearing the bolster foam and the cheap wires and coil springs were doing the same to the seat bottom foam.
I had mine repaired by a custom car interior shop. He placed leather strips over the sharp edges of the aluminum frame and repaired the torn foam and added some additional foam. He also added carpet between the springs/wires and the seat foam that he repaired.
Cost me $95 for the driver's seat.

I'm 5' 10", 195 pounds. Body fat under 8%, usually...Getting harder to keep that down as I get older, g-damitt....
Stock seats to me are horrid. Woefully lacking in comfort. Cheap assed wanna-be leather. Hate the damn things. At least they are light.
Been looking at options for three years now. No way I'm spending 5-7 grand though, so the Carvagio option isn't on the table. One option is from Leather seats dot com. About 2K for a "conversion" to the 2012 style, and the leather they use is high grade. Better than what I have, but not great either. The 2012 seats are a bit improved, but not by much.
This is clearly a market demand gap that could use another option. As these C6's get older, and keep loosing value, expensive seat options become less attractive. Spend 6 grand to upgrade seats in a car that's worth 35K???

In my opinion Caravaggio Daytona seats are the best option for Corvettes. A buddy of mine also a forum member here had a set in his ZR1 and the fit was great. I'm a 6'1" 240lb guy, I've owned a few aftermarket seats for my C5. The Arizen seat options were great but limited waist size and they sat high like many others do. If I were going OEM seat option I would look at 2013 seats which are the best fitting seats out of the 8 years of C6's.
Arizen seats in my C5 Z06.

The corbeau EVO X seats are basically corvette specific, and cheap. Heard mixed reviews. They are definitely a cheap seat. There is either really cheap, or really expensive, but nothing in the middle.

Corbeau A4s in my C5. I'm 6' and the stock seat was so high that I was constantly slouching down to look below the windshield frame. Like driving through a mail slot. Corbeaus aren't that comfortable, and lack much lumbar support, but they did mount a little lower.
Stock Z seats have a distinctly low rent feel, but at least I can see out of the car! Can not do another set of A4s, and a bazillion dollar set of Caravagio's is just not gonna happen.
Maybe I'll see what the upholstery shop can do to help the stock ones.
