Default Dynamat, how much?

I'm gutting the car to install a new sound system. Figured now is the time to try to improve the interior noise.

Is there a preferred type of mat? My experience with this stuff is very limited. And how much should I buy? I had planned to just get a roll and cut it to fit.

You need to go to sounddeadenershowdown.com and email the guys, let them know what kind of car and what you want out of the project and they will hook you up with something way better than just dynomat. They've done a lot of badazz research and are good guys.

There is a long thread on the C2 Gen Dis forum on this subject. Other products are also discussed. It is on the second page right now.

I am not going for a caddi like interior sound, just a good compromise. My exhaust will overcome anything I can do anyway. I do know that audio quality can be greatly improved with sound deadening and that's the primary goal. Not to concerned about the additional 50 pounds either, seeing how I dont race the clock.

There is a fantastic DIY in the audio sub forum for all this too. I'm not going that far though.

Hey Michael this is what I found to be the best on the market it's 4 mm thick and is just like Dynamat. It is called boom mat and is made by DEI. This is their boom mat XL which is the thickest you can get in is very dense.

Thanks guy's. I've been reading the info at the web site mentioned above. My head is about to explode. Wondering what the hell I'm getting myself into.

I'm just going with some mid range Morel speakers, new HU, corner sub and a small amp. Never would have guessed there is so much to sound treatment.

Save me the reading. What's the favorite light weight stuff?

The guys point in the website is that just slathering dynomat or equivalents is a waste. Some dynomat type materials in key areas, combined with CLD tiles (that are tuned to dampen resonance) will gain more results than covering every sq inch of space with dynomat (and should be lighter as well).

That's what I took away from his web site too. sounddeadenershowdown.com

And, the lighter weight Dynamat may be a couplete waste of time, effort and money. I'm not sure if he even uses the Dynamat or simular products.
