Default Stupid question about lowering a zo6

Which part of the rubber do I need to cut off the bolt to go lower, the bottom part or the rubber closest to the threads?

You need to cut off the part that rests in the control arm. If you look closely at them they look like little rubber discs stacked on top of each other. Using a cable saw works well.

Also I'd advise not cutting all of the rubber off. I did that in the rear and the metal bolt started squeaking since it was making metal on metal contact on the control arm.

Perfect thanks. I just want to cut off one of the ribs. I haven't even looked how it's made yet. I'm coming from a c5z which is a little different.

You might want to lower them without cutting the rubber first. I am lowered on stock bolts and have a couple of spots where I use the car that give me trouble at that ride height. You may not, but why cut something until you know you need to.

Yeah, mine definitely won't go that low on stock bolts. I have them turned all the way down now and it's not that low.

Was the rubber on your bolts all crooked and smashed?

Put some miles on it. It will settle a little lower I've found.
