PRC265 with 21,000 trouble free miles on them. Ti intakes and SS exhaust.

Call Tony Mamo.

What's your ultimate goal? You can spend big $ on fine heads, but it's a waste if you are just going to be stock or modest mods to 600RWHP.

Stock heads imo are the best bet. Mamo stuff is promising but just came out.

I just got a 2nd set of stock heads with ti oem valves, Ferrara stainless exhaust valves. PAC springs and titanium retainers, che bronze valve guides, milled .030 ( shaving another .005-.010 to clean them up.... gots some bumps and bruises in both corners of the heads from shipping, so i ll be at .035-.040 ).
I got them for the price of a set of cores.
I researched and talked to alot of hardcore racers locally and most of them all said the same thing. The stock heads are best bang for the buck. Once I get to the point and i want that last 10-20 rwhp, I ll supercharge and go for another 150-175 rwhp
Tony Mamo is a good guy to talk to. And if these heads didnt pop up i was going to to with a set of his TF heads. But i couldn't pass these up. Not at thr price i paid for them.

I assume the aftermarket heads have their own casting. My decision to go aftermarket is to apply a complete fix and never worry about heads again.

Voila. You can make the decision as simple or as complex as you want it. I'm running PRC 265s with just under 5,000 trouble free miles.

Aftermarket heads offer no more of a fix than redone factory.

This sorta thing is hard to research. The peanut gallery says people have had "fixed" heads fail, but it's hard to find those instances if they exist. As you know, over the years... the problem has been a moving target. So maybe some of those fixed heads were fixing something that wasn't broken. Here I am repeating it.. so it must be true. </sarcasm>

The GMPP LSx head that have the CNC port option is a very attractive option considering the price point. They come with OEM valves and springs. In the hands of a competent hand porter, I think they could be a great choice to consider. I'd have seat run out checked, if you do not have the tools to do that yourself.

We do all of our own heads, but we do start with a GM casting and have been doing it that way since 2005 on the LS7 (Did the first set for Red Line Engine Oil in Sept. 2005).
On heavily boosted cars, yes a 6 bolt head (as well as block) would be need but there is nothing wrong with the factory casting, just the parts installed in them.

I have a second set of stock castings but have not had time to do much with them but if I did....
I'd have either Tony Mamo, Texas Speed or WCC, port them and install CHE guides. I'd used stock intake valves and stock exhausts, Katech valve springs, Katech Ti retainers and stock locks. I'd have the guides finished such that stem clearances are reduced slightly and the seat runout held to .001 or less. I'd use stock rockers but with the CHE bushing conversion.
