Default Baseline numbers on the Z..

Had Jeremy Formato in town to dial in the tune on my turbo TA, so we decided this would be the ideal time to get some baseline numbers on the Z as well. Car is completely stock apart from an Akrapovic rear section.

Final number was 551whp / 534wtq, came away pretty happy with it, looking ahead to some bolt-ons here soon too!

Nice car... Love the Akra. Did you recently purchase this in Orlando?
Jeremy is going to do some more stuff to mine in a couple weeks, then after that installing the E85 sensor for the real fun.

Isn't that about what a stock ZR1 would pull on a DynoJet? I just picked up a different ZR1 with the full Akra exhaust and it doesn't feel any faster than my previous stock one. It does sound a lot nicer however.

Funny enough, I sure did, about a month ago!

Pretty much yea, I see most stock dyno's running 530ish +/- so this one is a little on the higher side but still in the norm

Any idea as to difference between dynojet and mustang dyno numbers?

I had an 02 camaro with 3.73 gears and running a well built 416 putting 520rwhp on a mustangs dyno. After it burned I put the same engine in my 04 Z, but keeping the stock Z06 TI exhaust instead of the straight through muffs I was running on the camaro. Lost about 25hp.

Back on the dyno at the first of the year and down another 10hp or so which we got back in another tuning session. Beginning to think its time for valvesprings and we may have lost some power there.

In regards to dynos matching qtr times, my mph at the strip would darn near mirror the hp numbers from the mustang dyno. Talking to guys who had their cars on both, it seemed the dynojets were always about 10% higher than the mustang dynos.

The shop that works on mine said he would typically see 430ish from a stock C6 Z and was always amazed at what they gained from a good cai (about 25-30hp) vs just headers (5-10hp without other mods). Adding that 10% for a dynojet puts it in that 475hp range I guess.

I may need to get new valvesprings and then get redyno'd on a dynojet to feel better about the darn thing???

I thought most stock ZR1s would pull 540-560 on a DynoJet and 510-520 on a Mustang Dyno. I did a 3 pull package on a Mustang Dyno earlier this year with my previous stock 2011 and it made 533, 518, and 52? I think. All SAE corrected but it was only about 80 degrees during the runs. I think the 1st pull with a cooler engine was low 522-524 measured and 533 corrected. The second pass was right after the first and had 10-15 degrees higher IAT2 which would explain the 10-15. The 3rd pass had 5 minutes of cooling with fans blowing on the motor and made almost the same as the 1st pass.

I've driven 5 or 6 stock ZR1s now and the one I had on the dyno earlier this year felt like the strongest of the bunch.

Makes sense. I actually made 563whp STD in 89* weather, but since we all relate to SAE that's where it pulled 547, and then about 60 seconds later it made 551.
