Default 2009 C6 ZO6 45K Miles Creaking

Granted the car is not new anymore. Now I am hearing creaking noises when I turn left or right into a rising parking lot or back out of my drive way into a narrow alley. Anything that twists the car causes this.

Once on the freeway the car is silent as a lamb. Is this normal wear on a 6 year old car? I purchased it new (3 miles on it) and have never crashed it.

Thank you.

You have a worn out sway bar end link(s). They are like $25 each from GM, easy fix!

Normal wear, I replaced a noisy one on my 06

Looks like I will be doing a job this weekend lol. Mine is bad going up slanted driveways. Now when I replace the end links I have to get an alignment correct?

The pic on the left is the stock end link, the one on the right is the cheap replacement. You need the one in the middle, MOOG is the best and they have a zirc for greasing. Any quality shop has or can get them. All four are the same, get them all.

Before you buy new parts, check the bolts that hold the tunnel plate in place.

Mine made a creaking noise when going unevenly in and out of my driveway. It sounded like it was coming from the rear of the car. Tightening the loose tunnel plate bolts fixed it.

So when putting these on do you have to grease them up or do they come pregreased? I found them on Amazon for $21 each shipped (Moog K750136 Stabilizer Bar Link).

You need to grease the Moog's when they are installed according to the directions that come with them. The grease fittings were already installed when I got them from Amazon.
I installed them and the creaking noise went away on my car.
My stock end links had 17750 miles on them and were noisy.

The fittings will require a grease gun. I always opt for a nice synthetic grease by mobil 1 or royal purple, as both are carried by the local chain found all over the US.

I should also add: 1-2 pumps with the grease gun and that's it! A common mistake is to keep pumping until you see the grease come out--if you go that far, you've blown out the seal!

Ok two pumps max it is. I bought a gun with it also. I bought this grease "Grease, Automotive
by Mobil 1" as it had better reviews than the other one for some reason. I will do two pumps.

The gun I also bought Lumax LX-1152 Black Heavy Duty Deluxe Pistol Grease Gun with 18" Flex Hose

When I got mine the zirc fittings were not installed and the instructions said that they were pre-greased. Make sure you get the big iron/steel casted ones. The ends are tight and a bit difficult to move initially. The ones you want are made in Mexico, not Taiwan. Note the pics with same part numbers.

Mine was doing something similar and it ended up being the hatch. The dealer re-aligned it and it's been good ever since.

Don't buy anything but a Harness bar. I had the same creeking noises at 3000 miles. Put the bar in (which looks factory installed) and I get zero noise when going over uneven ground.

I am going to go in a different direction on my recommendation to check the roof panel bolts. The roofs on the Z06 are bolted in place and I suspect the bolts may loosen up a bit over time. You can access the bolts through the interior near the windshield header padding. Good luck with it.
