Pretty stupid for a grownup person doing burnouts on the street. I would suspect it might impress the ricer crowd, but burnouts for real men are done on DR's or slicks by the waterbox at the dragstrip.

The fact that your burning up expensive tires and throwing up pebbles and possibly chipping your paint, I see absolutely no upside from doing these burnouts!

I might have done a burnout back when I was in high school, but then again most of us did a lot of stupid, immature things when we were younger, trying to impress our friends & buddies.
Today, seeing someone old enough to know better doing a burnout in a Corvette only makes me question their intelligence.

Maybe folks should lighten up,the op is just having a little fun.
The only thing I'd add is simple ...... Line Lock.
If you're worried about rocks, who isn't ? Use blue painters tape.

Really you think??
Sometimes replies on CF are well..... Just inane.
Make a comment saying let the OP put his hair down only to have a member ding me like I need a drool cup. Hmmm I always wear a seat belt, do you often drive around with your tin foil hat????
I'm 58 and I like to occasionally do a burnout-nothing stupid just leave em smelling rubber. It makes the wife squeal and gets you a better kick than a Starbucks triple shot hazelnut latte. So just try to loosen up and let the OP have a little fun.
I don't do it all that often but when I do - I always make sure I'm in a position to make sure no one can be hurt - and no cops are around - as I jump on it and put a smile on my face. The key being do the burnout right and make sure no one gets hurt.
Obviously this doesn't mean line it up in a big crowd and take a chance that you loose control and drill into the crowd as I occasionally see done on YouTube (that's what is irresponsible).

Not according to the stack of tickets. The 97 in a 70 was the most over the limit recently, since they tend to use speeders as an income source. Of course, LEO's don't frequent the ultra low traffic backroads.
I do however run at the dragstrip where I do burnouts for a different reason.
The OP is a paid writer/editor for several forums that Internet Brands own and posts highly controversial subjects to stir up people in an attempt to increase income for the number of clicks. He doesn't even own a Vette and probably not even an American made car.

As I personally detest folks who are something they don't represent themselves as. BTW I do burn outs at the track or drag strip to help get the tires hot and sticky too. Too make sure I only occasionally cut loose...as I never flog my engine.

The general consensus is that burnout=you'll shoot'chur eye out
Lighten up people. America's best sports car yet (IMO), doing a burnout. Makes me want to sing the star spangled banner in my office!!

I'll ask the same question I ask in political conversations: proof?
