Mods and driving for tune
Is it safe to drive 45min away for a tune with the following mods after being installed?
C&C milled heads
cam
headers/intake/exhaust
102tb and fast or msd

It's definitely pushing it. With what you have just invested in my opinion not worth the gamble. Overnight your ecm to them with your head and cam specs so they can at least dial that in, before you drive there for dyno time. Or see if someone from the shop can come to you and street tune your car or tune it enough to drive it to their shop. If you drive it like this you'll put a lot of stress for too long. You'll definitely be running lean and seeing knock which for that long a period can damage your engine.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll have to start looking around for a trailer to fit it on. I saw a few guys on here loading them up on a uhaul rented trailer.

Tow it! One bad detonation, and there goes the engine. Don't gamble away a $15,000.00 engine.

Driving it won't be bad, issue will be stop lights/etc. Getting it to idle and not stall will be the issue. The rest of the stuff isn't ideal, but wouldn't hurt anything.
Like Telly said, the driveability will be the issue, not safety of the motor.

DONT drive it anywere flat bed it. or like some one posted up get a base tune, an even, that would freak me the f--- out. I am new in here, should be some one on the east coast that will chime in with better info. So anyways you did all that work your self, or you got help, the parts you picked up some one must of told you. what needs to be done after the install, my guess. Sorry dont want to come across as a a$$ hole.

i'd say it depends on the size of the cam and if you can make a safe trip. My widow r cam needed a mail order tune as it wouldnt hold an idle..... then I drove it 2.5 hrs to Slowhawk in Ma. Copolla charges too much Slowhawk is alot cheaper and you get a street and dyno tune. Hes big on ls1tech

Never seen a tune from base go in and add a ton of fuel and pull a bunch of timing. The stock tune is so conservative. You land up pulling fuel, and adding timing, and part throttle, as long as you have enough fuel trim, it won't hurt anything unless you did 12:1 compression. Like I said, idle and stop lights will be rough, low RPM freeway maybe rough, but as far as exploding from knock/etc, just don't see that happening. I wouldn't go over 50% throttle, but limping it to a shop is fine if you can.
Exceptions would be real high compression, or swapping injectors without a tune.

You can drive it, it will run like crap at stop lights to stop lights, but you can manage. Don't go (WOT) Mad Max on it and take it easy...on the hwy, don't use cruise control and don't do make any take over moves, just keep her at a steady cruise and you should be fine.
Hope this helps
Thanks,
Carlos
