Default Brakes

getting ready to redo my stock brakes on my 08 Z06. Suggestions? Obviously carbon ceramic is the ideal here however not looking to drop 12k. Car usage is mostly highway miles, and she gets beat on in a straight line here an there. The occasional roll race. Doesn't see the track and not going to. Thoughts on new brakes? or should I just put the OEM back on?

It appears that O.E.M. has worked thus far. What you buy at Autozone ain't O.E.M. or even close.

Curious Maiettar1, assuming your brake rotors are worn beyond use, would you be interested in off loading one of them? I'm looking for a used C6Z rotor to make a lamp base with…. Feel free to PM me if you prefer. Thank you.

Sounds like your stock brakes with good street pads is all you need with no road circuit driving.

Why are you redoing your stock brakes? Are you having problems with them?

I went with the Hawk Ceramics for less dust than stock, been very happy with them for the last 7,000 miles. I purchased mine through Amazon and got a great deal, here are the part #'s in case you want them.

OE brakes are very competent in stock form. Just get some replacement rotors (OE quality or better) and a good set of street pads. Maybe add some stainless lines, flush and refill the system with a good synthetic brake fluid, and you should be very happy with the results.

The factory rotors are good and relatively inexpensive. Why do you think yours need replacement? The Stoptech web site has a good brake tech section and it explains why brake pedal pulsing is seldom rotor warpage, but more often just uneven brake pad deposits. If you just do street driving the OEM rotors should still be good as the factory pads are not really hard on the rotors.

You were very happy with the performance of them or the lack of dust from them? Changing pads soon, cause the dust from my non-ceramic pads is driving me absolutely crazy. I have to wipe down my wheels after every drive.
