Default Buying C6 z06 Need advise please

Ok so here's the story. Last year, this time of year, I bought my first corvette ever. I bought an 2005 C6. It was an impulse buy. I did not do my research. I could have bought an 2011 LS3 C6 for 2Gs more but it did not have the Z51 performance package so I bought the LS2 and 1st production year, ugh.... Now that I've added some bolt-ons I think it's time for it to go so I can get a Z06. It just doesn't make me happy. Here's my question. I've read 06-07 Z06 don't have head issues. 2008s - 1st half of 2011s have head issues. All the Zs I've seen have LOW miles which is good but I wonder if they had the heads replaced. Also I believe the recall ends this year in April. So which C6 Z06 is the best year to buy. This next car I do plan to keep for years to come. Your advise is greatly appreciated and I thank you. - D. Members can say any year C6 Z06....in the end, it's your decision, what makes you happy. I would check valve guides on ANY year C6Z just for peace of mind. If it's out of tolerance, then recondition or replace the heads. It all comes down to you and what makes you happy.

If I were looking for Z and my budget allowed, I would look at '08+....but, there's nothing wrong with the '06-'07's either. Personal preference here.

I agree. Check the heads on any model year you get and budget for the expenses to fix down the road if they are ok at purchase with a low mileage car. I agree the 08+ is what I was looking for. Found an 09 for a good price and close to me.

Head issues are all years. If you don't care for the upgrades in the later years save some money and get a 2006 or 2007. You can't go wrong with any Z. I dreamt of one for 7 years and when I got it, it far exceeded my expectations. I love this car.

excellent car, just put the $ away for the head upgrade or get a warranty….then drive it like you stole it.

Ok sounds good. Thank you all for the advice. All I need now is a buyer for mine.

You can look up the stuff added to each model year. But the above are the main ones. I ended up with an 09 and love it! Good luck on the search for your perfect one.

Like you, I wanted an 08 or newer. I found what I wanted in an 09Z and I'm loving it. Happy hunting.

I just bought a mint red 2006 Z06 from a great seller in Texas. I originally wanted an 08 or higher. But the seller had the console upgraded to the carbon fiber piece. That helped spruce up the interior. The 06 is also the lightest of all Z's. I came from a C5Z so I'm cool with the T56 tranny. And I'm not a big track guy, so the "smaller" 8 quart oild capacity isn't a big deal to me. Good luck!
