Default 4l80e swap. Anyone know of a working harness/controller

Might 4l80 the car this winter. I hate shifting into 5th at these half mile events. Feels like I'm loosing a couple mph just on the slow shift.

Anyone know of a working harness/ controller to get it functioning. Dsx only has the z06 set up done right now.

Putting a 4L80 in a your car would be a mistake. Ive been down that road a few years back. The only place a 4l80 might be needed is 1/4 mile drag racing and I woukdnt want one for that either.

You have to permanently cut up/hack/beat the tunnel of the car to make it fit. Don't let anyone kid that it just takes "a little" cutting.

An auto trans makes a lot of heat. ZR1's have enough issues trying to keep the motor, blower, etc cool, adding another heat generator only complicates the issue.

There are other options you could go if you don't like throwing 5th.

not to worried about hacking up the underside, as far the cooling been thinking about that but I didn't think it be that huge of an issue. I do mostly Mexico and half mile stuff with the car and have been loosing a fair amount of speed in shifts

For what you want to do, a 4L80 wouldn't make sense unless you pair it with a 3.15 rear end.

You can use a PCS, but it won't end up with true factory style integration like the setups I do. I could probably make a ZR1 work, but it'd be tough and take some testing because of the uniqueness to the ZR1.

There's a lot of BFH work involved with making a 4L80 fit.

was planning on matching a rear final up to get it working correctly.

We're putting a turbo 400 in our z06 so I'm fairly familiar with what it takes to get those in the back I don't mind the chopping up. She's my racer and gets treated as such haha.

Getting the thing wired in and working correctly because of the ecu is what I'm trying to figure out. I know some one did a 4l60 on one already but can't find much info on it

Plus I need to pull it to buy a new clutch now and only options are the silly expensive rps quad or a tilton. I don't really want to drop the money on a quad either to still have issues with 5th either

You can use a PCS controller. I don't like them, but it would work.

I think this would be cool but put actuators on it and use paddles.

We have multiple GM LSX applications running ProEFI controlling the 4L80 transmission, I have two in house at the moment, one runs 8s as it sits and he drives it everywhere. As serious as your car is maybe its something you should consider.

Similar but in a beefier trans. 4l80 probably won't work looks like the final we will need to do the speeds is gonna get chewed up. Don't want to go th400 either. Looks like I'm rebuilder the tripple to thier HD

Why not just go to a Spec clutch like RC is using?

If you drop to a C6 rear, you can run a 3.15 out back and be fine. Hell, run a 2.73 and have gear for days.

Was thinking about that this morning on the way to work. 3.15 with a 27.7 tire and reving to 7400 ish I should be close to being able to stay in 4th

I don't think you will be able to keep a c6 rear together with that kind of tq. I would not take the step down in strength there. Maybe try the Spec E trim?

Anyone know of a working harness/ controller to get it functioning. Dsx only has the z06 set up done right now.

Redline is doing my 4L80 right now. I would need to ask them what controller there using. I went all RPM's tranny setup with C5 built rear for the gearing. Not as strong as the ZR1 rear but it's not going to break for hwy and mile runs. The 80 with the stock rear will max out at about 180mph so changing gear should be done for what you want it for.
