What replacement heads did you use the first time? Are you saying your first replacement heads only lasted 13,062 miles?

Its a garbage formula meant to assist with meeting epa standards by reducing or removing all together the anti wear substances that it used to contain. if we were talking pre 2003 mobil 1 then yes maybe it would still be my oil of choice.

My Blackstone reports showed high lead levels using Redline. I switched to Mobil1 0w40 and lead levels are now below normal.

I have a thread on it in this section of Forum. If interested and can't find it I will post the report for you.

I haven't heard any complaints about 0w40 mobil 1 but I still won't use their product after a fiasco with another vehicle manufacturer that claims mobil 1 as their recommended oil.

What's the significance of lead content? Newer bearing don't use lead in manufacturing...Piston rings maybe? Fuel contamination? I use amsoil 10w30 with zddp and have been for almost 30k miles (since ive owned the car) but I've got a forged bottom end. I change oil every 5-6k miles and I beat the hell out of my car, not even going to lie. Only issue to date was a broken comp valve spring after 4 years and 30kish miles of abuse. Cheap spring, should have went BTR from the beginning but I was a tight *** with the $$$.

Around 6k miles or so ago the heads were "fixed" by WCCH. They installed CHE bronze guides, ported them, milled .030", and had done some valve work, SS exhaust valves, springs etc. The car has had no issues. I decided to make some changes and run a bigger cam, swap lifters, and check my valve guides. Max spec is .0037. I pulled a couple springs and checked the one that seemed to move the most. When I measured I found .011" play in an exhaust valve guide. Off the heads went. I didn't bother measuring them all.

CHE bushed rockers
Manley Nextek .700" springs w/Ti retainers
Morel lifters- cannot remember part number
Cam spec: 231/246 .653"/.652" 115+3

The car's current mileage is 13,062.

So basically bronze guides are not a fix then just a bandaid...just like I suspected. Chad that was on the forum told me the same thing but he did say the moldstar guides were the fix after pulling another customers heads with moldstar...we are getting closer and closer on seeing the real fix for thus issue thanks again hopefully gm is reading this.

What did WCCH have to say about it? How are the CHE bushed rockers holding up?

There could be a reason Katech swapped from using polished OEM intakes to their TiMo intake valves as they use WCCH and the CHE bronze guides in their builds. (finer stem finish and coating compatible with bronze guides on Ti valves.)

That does not deal with the OEM exhaust valves used in their builds with CHE bronze guides, though.

2006 with 40k and a wiggle test (DIY) showed a few valves at the limit. AHP reworked the heads with Moldstar90 guides and .030 mill. Install was DIY with .040 head gaskets.

AHP was great to work with and provided sound advice and suggestions before and after the sale.
