On the flip side the majority of the cf following enjoy modding their cars while sharing the pros , cons and opinions . Your exactly right . It's not for everyone. It's time and money consuming which weighs heavy on some . You joined in December 13 so the guys are gonna bust your ***** a little . Good luck with your search for its equal . I see a honda in your future

I'm sympathetic.

I love my 08 Z06, but the reports of all these failures does cause some anxiety, and I've often thought about a replacement car that is more reliable, as my emphasis is on a high level of performance coupled with better reliability. Haven't found anything that could match the straightline, around town, performance of a used Z06 at a similar price point. Used 2013 GT500 and supercharging a used Grand Sport were considerations.

Send me a PM and let me know what you decide on, I won't knock you.

thanks.

I'll be honest, too much reading bothered me too so - with only 6000 miles on mine, I did new PRC heads, and mild cam. enjoying the car more now with less worries and still puts a smile on my face everytime I see it and drive it.

You need to send a thank-you note to Rickie

Cheers, Paul.

PS. IF you can find another equally hi-per car with 30,000+ units on the road that hasn't had some kind of "issue" please let us know what it is

There is, just a lot of people don't like it. That is to get heads done, and then continue to monitor and replace/rework when needed. If you can't handle possibly doing valves/valve guides every 20k miles then this isn't a car for you. Until someone really finds a proven long term solution, this is the solution.

Well actually in MANY cases there is an answer...do nothing because there is NOT a problem. There's a reason why many guys have gone as many as a couple hundred thousand miles without a problem. Hundreds of reported failures on this forum pails in comparison to the 30,000 LS7s running around out there...I feel sorry for people who fall for internet hype and are incapable of seeing a bigger picture.

That said, any prudent and inform LS7 owner will find it necessary to periodically monitor guide wear, if this requirement creates significant enough unpleasantness, getting rid of the car makes sense. What I fail to understand is the desire to report this on a forum which clearly is for enthusiasts of the car you think isn't worthy of your ownership...of course if you don't mind being the subject of some ridicule, go for it

Cheers, Paul.

There's guys on the forum who have over 100k miles on their Z06 and one guy who says he has almost 200k miles and has never had a problem and they beat it like a red headed step child. See ya.

There are also people with bad valves at 5k miles.

Without even touching the forums, I've seen enough issues locally. IF anyone thinks that there is only a few hundred and they are just reported on here they have their heads so far in the sand they can't see daylight. Like I've said before, out of 15+ cars I've personally seen checked/etc I know one car with guides in spec, and know of at least 4 dropped valves from people not on the forums. It is scary how common it is when you get out there.

I'm sure when you sold it you disclosed all the issues as to why you are selling to the buyer.. Right?

Yup. This is the current "solution". No, I'm not thrilled with it, but thats they way it is. The car offers the best performance to dollar ratio of any car I've ever seen, so I'm willing to roll with it.

getting close to 50k on my 07...this car has been excellent from day one.. still have original battery...wiggle tested rh valves at 29k....they were ok for me...car has been driven very very hard at times...easy other times...still like this one enough that while i would like a new z06 may not see the value in upgrading...only issue i have is the number of sets of tires i have gone through
