Radar detector itself is old news! The new escort's come with Escort
Live. Goes beyond WAY BEYOND the detector.
Everyone who has one hits the button
when they see a cop! Which tells everyone where they are! WORKS GREAT!
Tonight it went off a couple times. First warned me of an UNMARKED
sitting running lazer! Then another across the bridge! HAHA! works so good!
Light's up cop live ahead!
Get a ESCORT Max or 9500ix with Escort live!

Best is a BEL STiR plus (note it's a built-in and not windshield mount)with an Antilaser AL Priority jammer

I've had a number of different radar detectors and also laser jammers. No windshield mount detector can match the performance of an installed detector. That said, installed detectors aren't for everybody for a number of reasons, the biggest reasons being cost and complexity of installation.
Based on my personal experiences with different windshield mount detectors, the 9500ix is a very good detector. I used one for years, and had an 8500 before that one. It performs well in the majority of situations, and the GPS false alert learning feature makes for a very quiet detector. That said, they are not as sensitive as the V1 or the Redline. I came to realize that under certain conditions, although relatively rare, where the 9500ix probably doesn't warn you soon enough to save your butt. It just isn't as sensitive and doesn't have the range of the V1 or the Redline. The direction indicator on the V1 is very useful. My one very slight complaint with the V1 is that it is just a little bit too chattery at times for my liking, HOWEVER there are situations where the V1 will warn before the Redline.

Agreed Jorday..I have a V1 in my ZR1 (and Laser Interceptor jammer) for the integration with the Dashtronix...I have the 9500ix in my ML63 and Blinder hp-905 but now/soon the STiR will integrate with the Antilaser for an all in one gps, bluetooth, extremely covert and powerful system. Most are not aware that the new STiR plus also offer gps , red light, and lockout...on line updates as well as Ka band segmentation...and yes the package is expensive but.....here we get surcharged 25% every speeding violation on insurance after 2 incidents so that could mean easily 300-500 per pop plus the cost of the ticket..you know the old saying..don't speed but if you must...wear protection
I have this combo on order for a summer install into my ML63 AMG (daily driver)

Then with the ability to stop the lazer cold is great!
The Escort live feature is not talked about enough! Can be added to other escorts. The 9500ix can be connected to the installed unit to add GPS
to the built-in.
It adds so much to the unit. A few years back when it was first out
it didn't have enough user's.
Not now! It really adds another level of protection. It shows me where EVERY COP ON THE ROAD IS! At times live action and is accurate. Most lazer cops and stopped cops and stopped UNMARKED cars are known miles ahead.

V1
I have the V1 with the Blendmount and Dashtronix HUD display. Very clean installation for a portable. I also have a V1 in my DD Landcruiser with an inviscord to the rear view mirror and a Blendmount. No tickets (knock on wood) since getting them and warnings always way in advance of the LEOs. I am still very aware of the instant on if there is no other traffic. That is the big gotcha. After reading this thread it seems as though there is some really great newer technology that has become available and worth considering. I sure like the idea of the laser jammers and the interactive location sharing units.

I have had numerous ones over the years, V1, Bel, Escort, etc. I had a 9500IX (now in my buddy's weekend driver) and I have a new Escort Passport MAX. Love it, GPS, updateable and not nearly the false alarms as before. However, this is a "pepsi/coke" type of thread - there are a few good ones and many so-so ones on the market. Bottom line is installed is the best, however, I have a bend mount in my ZR1 and my SUV with the mirror power cords - so, I just move it to the vehicle I am driving. Just a word of caution - you still have to be alert and understand the detector you have - if you are first in line and gun is pulled up, you are dead even with the best out there - so, good luck on your decision - money well spent in my book!
