Questions - Potential new ZR1 owner
Hello ZR1 owners!
I'm debating on purchasing a new '13 ZR1 and coming from an '08 Z06.
1 - How loud (interior) is the ZR1 on the highway for road trips?
2- Do the carbon ceramic brakes make a grinding sound or feel a lot different in city driving (I'm not going to track the car).
3- More or less brake dust than conventional brakes?
4- Any issues with the carbon fiber coating on the roof, bow, side skirts or spitter?
Thank you!

2. Super quiet and same feel on street. Will make a little squeak at low speed occasionally if burnished.
3. Much less dusting
4. No problems with any of my exposed carbon bits. Manual states no wax but I have had no problems with liquid sealants.

1. Interior noise about the same. Same insulation if you had 2lz in z06.

2. No......you'll be quite impressed with the brakes on the street
3. You'll love the "no dust" for street use.
4. None at all.
You'll love the car!!!!!

I don't believe I've seen anyone post that they've had any regrets about buying a ZR1 other than maybe not buying one sooner. Lots of guys around here(including myself) have gone from the Z06 to the ZR1 and have been very happy. The ZR1 is indeed an amazing car.

Went from a 2007 Z06 to 2010 ZR1 and have no regrets. Had a man just today that I had never seen before go on and on about my ZR1, all kind of questions. I do not think you will regret the trade up!!!

1. - I think it is quieter than Z06 in normal driving
2. - No noise whatsoever and they feel great.
3. - MUCH less dust in my opinion. Front ZR1 rims on my 427 look dusty almost immediately.
4. - Nope
I can find no reason to ever recommend not getting a ZR1 if you want one.

I agree with the comments above.
It is a bit quieter than the Z, but I wouldn't be surprised that the Michelin tires on the ZR are the reason - as opposed to any difference in sound deadening material used in the car itself. The ZR's Michelins are much better tires than the GYs on the Z.

OP, what else do you need to hear?! Just do it and be sure to post some pics of your new ZR1 (sharing pics of you with a big smile on your face is optional).
