I like my ZR1 it's a great car, why get rid of it. I'm very lucky to own one of 4,600 ZR1's........
GM is not going to sucker me in then leave me depreciated years late again. JMO

If one is good... then two must be better, right?
The SSB 2011 is still nearly stock and is just a beautiful cruiser - although it sees some exercise. The Black 2010 has the full ZR800 package from Torq Speed Lab and puts down 706/703 to the tires on a loaded dyno. It's a hammer. Makes ~660 ft-lbs at just 3000 RPM (@ WOT).
Two different driving experiences.

I'm on the list for the Z06 for all the reasons mentioned in this thread, but only as an addition to the collection. ZR1 (and ZR-1 for that matter) stay.

I am very torn on this question, so GM must be doing something right with the change in design... however, with that...
I bought the ZR1 for three simple reasons, the exterior looks, 600+ HP, and bullet-proof factory warrantied motor.
Changes to the design of the new C7 do not diminish my opinion of the ZR1's good looks at all, and the projected power levels do not make me feel as though I would be upgrading at all. And while I hope the new LT4 is just as rock solid as the LS9, obviously the jury is still out on associating the term "bulletproof".
For me personally, the only 'upgrade' I see in the C7 is the interior; however, as noted above, that wasn't even a consideration for me when purchasing the ZR1. If it were, I probably would never have bought the ZR1 as there are obviously many other cars out there with significantly better interiors than the ZR1 in the past few years.
So long and short... since the exterior looks of the C7 Z06 are not compelling me to want to swap, and the C7 Z06's power is projected to be on par with the ZR1 (not substantially higher), and since the jury is still out on longevity of the LT4, I will be keeping my ZR1 until one of these changes...
Now... All of the talk (before the reveal) about the C7 Z06 getting the C7.R body (or something close to it) was definitely getting me excited though, and my wallet thanks GM for not going that route...
It is all subjective though, so who knows... taste buds change over time...

No immediate plans to get a new Z06, but I do like them and could easily see myself buying one in a few years. I'd like to keep the ZR1 also.
Much like I did for the ZR1, I'll wait a few years, then buy a nice used one, perhaps tastefully modded, at a very nice price.

If it were possible to keep both cars, the C6Z would be a great second or third car, but to choose it over a ZR1 would be a foolish choice.

You're looking at it from a pure car standpoint. Yes the ZR1 is the nicer better more powerful car. Sure. But from a production stand point, type of car, collectibility, and heratige standpoint, the Z06 wins.

I'm looking at it as one C6 Corvette to another C6 Corvette.
From excellent to really excellent: Base, GS, Z06 and ZR1.
I'm completely lost with the point(s) you're trying to make here.
Please explain in more detail why the Z06 would be more desirable (wins) over the ZR1 in these areas:
1. From a production stand point
2. Type of car
3. Collectibility
4. Heritage standpoint

They made 1/6 the number of ZR1s than Z06s so why would a Z06 be more collectible? I think they will both be desired cars later on but I don't see at any point the Z06 going for more

4. Last big NA motor frc z06.
Ya know what, I retract everything I said. You're right his Z is a pos and not worth the metal it was stamped on. I will be awaiting a pm when he is ready to sell that outdated old junk of a car.
