Mine's not going anywhere anytime soon. Might add something to the garage this year but the ZR1 still has prime parking. Every time the thought of making a change comes up, I just go for a spin. I then realize it's still a very special car; one I'm lucky to own.

Just got mine last month so real new to me. Obviously I have to keep it for at least a year but as a dealership employee I probably won't be able to get a deal on one until the year after next which is fine with me as I really like my ZR1 It's #27 since 1974 Would like to actually keep it when I get the new one but we will just have to see how biz is then

My '11 IO has already been given to my 5 year old son, and will always remain in our collection. I'm curious about how you came up with 69? Does that include both 1ZR's and 3ZR's? From what I've been able to discern, about 40ish IO 3ZR's were made. I really miss the forum member who kept track of this kind of stuff. Unfortunately, he passed a while back.

I am very torn on this question, so GM must be doing something right with the change in design... however, with that...
I bought the ZR1 for three simple reasons, the exterior looks, 600+ HP, and bullet-proof factory warrantied motor.
Changes to the design of the new C7 do not diminish my opinion of the ZR1's good looks at all, and the projected power levels do not make me feel as though I would be upgrading at all. And while I hope the new LT4 is just as rock solid as the LS9, obviously the jury is still out on associating the term "bulletproof".
For me personally, the only 'upgrade' I see in the C7 is the interior; however, as noted above, that wasn't even a consideration for me when purchasing the ZR1. If it were, I probably would never have bought the ZR1 as there are obviously many other cars out there with significantly better interiors than the ZR1 in the past few years.
So long and short... since the exterior looks of the C7 Z06 are not compelling me to want to swap, and the C7 Z06's power is projected to be on par with the ZR1 (not substantially higher), and since the jury is still out on longevity of the LT4, I will be keeping my ZR1 until one of these changes...
Now... All of the talk (before the reveal) about the C7 Z06 getting the C7.R body (or something close to it) was definitely getting me excited though, and my wallet thanks GM for not going that route...
It is all subjective though, so who knows... taste buds change over time...

I'll be keeping mine, one reason is, it only has around 5k miles and I'd be an idiot to get rid of it before I had more seat time than that in such a car.
Aside from that, the Z06's will be over invoice and crazy for the first year, plus they always add something that I wish I had waited for in the later versions.
Honestly, I'm not that guy that has to have the latest thing, I waited to get a ZR1 for the same reason and I did the same thing on my last Z06, a little patience afforded me the opportunity to have both cars and enjoy them at a much lower price of admission.

I'm improving mine. First thing is the light weight wheels and a Hurst Shifter.

Never say never, but I have no immediate plans or even intention to get rid of my ZR1's for the new ZO6. I bought both of them slightly used for big discounts, so the price of the new ZO6 (if as low as some people hope [dream]) isn't going to make me regret the purchases.
Now, in a couple more years, if I could get a slightly used C7 ZO6 at a nice price...

I'm a thrifty shopper with no immediate plans to replace the ZR. I also just picked up a GMPP so, we'll see how she holds up after 80k miles or so.
So far, she's been problem free after 38k miles and a dream to drive.

Moi! I have no plans to sell my 2012 CE ZR1. I love it and it is all I need in a vette/sports car.
Even if the Z06 (and whatever the next step-up in performance model is named and we all know there will be one) is fantastic and out performs a ZR1; I am not bothered. I have lived long enough to know that there is always someone or some model that is going to be faster, handle better, etc. I am happy that GM is improving the breed as it favors all us vette lovers in the long run. I am not interested in getting caught up in the game of constantly flipping cars because a newer and 'improved' model was just announced. That doesn't excite me and I am glad it doesn't as I have other hobbies and things I would rather spend my hard earned money on in life. Jumping to newer models constantly is a waste of money IMHO. Sure some day I might want another newer vette...to park next to my beloved 2012 CE ZR1. But, that won't happen for a number of years.
My ZR1 is everything I wanted when I bought it and nothing has changed since.

When I have a year left on the warranty, (2016) I'll probably sell but it isn't because "there's a new kid in town".
