Please do not buy a Z06. If you are worried about resale value, you will not experience the car as it is meant to be, but rather put it in a garage and wax it showing to your friends how cool you are. Every car I have owned, I have fully experienced and there is a price tag associated with that. Think of it as a vacation. When you take a vacation, you spend lots of dough but you will never recover a penny when you come back to reality.

dont take it the wrong way, but everyone shares the experience in their own way. I've got a garage queen to have a low milage engine at build time; then after the build I intend to keep that forged blown 427 forever.
On the other hand run up your mileage and wear it out, those of us w/cherry resto-mod vettes will smile at mecum in 25 years.

Buy the Z and drive the heck out if it. Doubt that there are any recent models that are not going to depreciate.

No more 427's in Corvette's ever...its the end of the 2nd Golden Age of muscle cars and 427's - oh and a 427 which gets 23 to 25 mpg when you're out getting the groceries, and a horse of a different feather when you open err up...
Folks look at my 427 symbol on my hood as I have a GSC Z06 in CGM..a 3LZ. You get that knowing look, a nod, or a comment by the guy at the pump on another car every time...it almost never fails. You wont feel screwed.
Of course, you can wait till next year, you can drop an extra 40K above a Z51 C7, on a C7 Z06 (at $100K USD+), and feel like you got screwed, but know that you have a 625 hp 650 fp tq stroked 376...pretty fast; but still not a 427. Hopefully Chevy will use enough quality internals you can turn the SC LT4 up to 1000 hp w/o breaking internals..then again the bean-counters rule.
Those new cars will be fast, hopefully built similar to the LS7 so they wind out fast..but the LS7 for all its issues will be an iconic engine for the ages.
I wont be here, but my nephew who will inherit the car can look forward to having a 427 when the cars they drive will mainly be ECO-WEINERS....and that puts a smile on my face too. I can't describe the pleasure when the opportunity presents the chance to open the 427 up next to a Prius or a Smart car....they fade in the distance in a heartbeat. I plan on keeping the car for the rest of my life,, especially after letting Katech do an Air Attack engine;a suspension, and a Air Attack SN for the car...zoom zoom zoom.
And don't take the stuff you read on dropped valves to heart, mine passed the wiggle test this week; so I'm not concerned with dropping any valves until I do a build on the car.....ahh 2015 ..it will be a banner year for my car

2008 or 2014
since you feel your going to get screwed on the 08 ZO6 then I guess you have to get the 2014, but as soon as you drive it off the car lot you will never be able to get what you paid. personally i'm keeping my O6 C6 ZO6 427 LS7 for the long haul. last vette for me.

There are people out there still dreaming about owning a Z06 8 years later. I had the opportunity to go for a C6Z or a C7. I went with the Z. No regrets. Seems you're more into the C7. Get that and enjoy it like we enjoy our C6Z's.

If your thinking that far ahead just buy the C7. That is if you can come up with the 60+k price list after dealer mark up.

I bought my Z back in August 2006, so I've had it a bit over 7 years, and 40,000 miles. Best car, most exciting car, I have ever owned. I can't imagine ever selling it. I did fix my heads, but spent less on that than I have on tires so far.
I looked at the new Vette...sat in one at a dealership. Nice car, but I'd take the C6 Z06 any day.
But you gotta do what's right for you...not what us internet guys say.
