If it is spring mountain, they ask for racing shoes, in fact you need very soft shoes specifically the soul. You will need to feel the pedal and be able to twist you right foot easily. I had a pair of converse (not the high ones)and it work perfect. These are the shoes I still wear when my wife is not on the right seat.
Again if it is spring mountain TAKE THE THIRD DAYYYYYYYYY, you wont regret.

You can still go on your own, but have to pay for it. Still worth it though. Maybe try to call Donna at SM, sometimes they have specials & discounted prices. I just got discounts on the third day of the ZR1 & on a day of CTS-V scheduled for April 2014.

I'm considering purchasing a leftover 2013 and am still kind of confused.
Is the driving school still included with a new purchase?

You have to check but I am pretty sure it is. When you figure out the cost to the school and the rebate for the leftover, it gets you not so fare from the used one and you will have the chance to ride a zr1 a way that you probably wont on yours and you will be invited to do so, how cool is that

I private messaged Chevy Customer Service (Chevy Cust Svc) Tuesday morning about the school, and am still awaiting their reply.

Spring Mountain - Ron Fellows Corvette Driving School
A friend and I did the Ron Fellows Level 1 ZR1 Corvette driving school from 28th-30th Oct, 2013 which cost us each approx $3600US for the 3 day ZR1 driving school.
You should elect to stay on site in the magnificent condominiums. The rooms all have A/C, king size beds; and, great views of the mountain ranges surrounding Pahrump.
Class size was 20 students; and, all track driving is done with the course instructors leading(2014 Camaro's and C6ZR1's) whilst you follow in your own C6ZR1. Numerous topics are covered in the class room and each driving session is approx 20-25 minutes in duration(approx 10-12 laps of the 2.2 mile road course).
Spring Mountain had over 170 C7 Stingray Z51 coupes on site at the time of our visit. We drove the C7's on the skid pad and other driving exercises; but, all our track time was in the C6ZR1.
As expected, our C6ZR1's were lapping quicker than the C7's. We were hitting 120-125mph along the back straight whilst the C7's were hitting 110-115mph.
We had an awesome experience, the most fun I've ever had with my pants on.
The SM staff from Melinda & Donna in the front office to the course instructor's lead by Rick Malone are the most easy going, helpful & patient folks you could ever wish meet.
The road course we drove was 2.2 miles in length, has 10 corners of various radius and has elevation changes throughout.
We are looking to return this year with a group of 8-10 aussies to blast around Pahrump's magnificent Spring Mountain circuit.
I recommend every Corvette owner do themselves a favour and go to Spring Mountain and have some fun. It's not cheap; but, it's an investment in your drivng skills. You won't regret it. If you go, say Hi to Rick Malone for me please?
Regards, Wayne(from across the pond in Oz)
