C7 and Z06s
Sorry if this has been addressed before. I looked, but did not find it elsewhere.
I am seriously looking at getting back into the corvette family by getting a used Z06 (probably 09 or 10). I am really curious as to what the forum members opinions are regarding how the introduction of the C7 will influence price and availability of used C6 Z06s.
I would think that there would be a bit better selection of used C6 Z06s after the C7 becomes available from people trying to trade them in or just outright selling them to purchase a C7 (don't misunderstand, I know that most Z06 owners are very loyal and would be much happier keeping it, but I am sure some will opt for newer and "advertised" better)
I would also think that the price for a used Z06 will go down a bit due to demand and there being something new on the block that will command a higher price.
I would rather wait a few months if this is what the majority feels will be happening. Otherwise, the itch needs to be scratched and I will get one very soon.
All of your thoughts/opinions are appreciated!

I seriously doubt C6 Z06s will flood the market until the C7 Z06 (or whatever they decide to call it) is introduced. Why someone would jump ship to a $60K Vette after owning an $80-100K Vette is beyond me. The C7 base and Z51 is not aimed at us. It's aimed at the base C6, Z51 and Grand Sport owners.
I sure won't be getting rid of mine anytime soon unless something happens to my job, then it's the first thing on the chopping block.

What you are going to see in the next couple of years are C7s on every corner (just as did the C6 base) and the C6Z all but gone on the street. You will get all excited when you roll up on a wide body C6 all to find out it's just another GS. Just wait until then to find a cheap mighty C6Z .
And so once the new mighty C7 Z?? is released and hits the sales floors at $100k+ I hope all those waiting have deep pockets. I know I couldn't afford my $85k sticker much less the first in line tax. But I sat back and waited patiently for them to get within reach.
OP, don't hold your breath. Wait long enough you may get to see the prices go up a little.

If the C7Z isn't a direct injected 427, or if it's supercharged, then I don't see values of C6Zs going down much.

1st year new model.....no thanks!, 2nd year.....no thanks.........3rd yup but base C7......no thanks., by that same 3rd year it will be 1st year c7Z.....no thanks, 2nd year c7Z......no thanks........3rd year C7Z.........yup, that's the one!!!. so to me, the sixth year (or maybe 5 from now) is the magic number for the 3rd year Z.

Depends on the seller. In my case, when I get ready to sell my 2010 Z06, with less the 14 K miles, it will not go inexpensively, and should I not find a buyer willing to pay, then in all respect, it will not go at all.

I doubt the Z's will lose that much value. There are still C5Z's out there selling all over in the 20's. Mid 20's is half of what they car was when it came out. I recall the C5Z being $52K brand new? If so then the C6Zs should stay around high 30's-40's. I don't ever see them dropping into the low low 30's let alone 20's for a long time. Dec 2012 I bought my 06 C6Z for $40k with 20K miles on it and bone stock. I thought it was a very fair price. Guy was asking $43K at first.

@OP
Don't know.
But many Z06 owners would probably prefer to wait for the high performance version of the C7 , e.g. C7 Z06 or whatever it's called, I know I am. And if that C7 Z06 is supercharged rather than NA, it will make the C6 Z06 that much more special.

I don't think we will ever again see a 7 liter Corvette. May see one with a 1000 hp stock but it won't be a 7 liter. Motors in all cars, incl exotics, are getting smaller. Heck the ZR3 (whenever that happens, maybe in the c8) is likely to be a 1.4 liter twin turbocharged motor with 25 psi of boost making 800 hp. I think we are finished with the big motors.
That is precisely why I bought one.
