Rode in a 427 Cobra last night!
So I'm with my rep last night in Sacramento last night. We are going to meet one of his contacts for dinner. Guy pulls up in a SWEET Factory Five Cobra. Built the car himself. 427 Dart block with AFR heads. Did 592 on the engine dyno.
We start talking cars, Corvettes, motors, ect... After dinner asks me if I want a ride. We jump on Interstate and he pullls hard through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Sounded bad axx with side pipes, and pulled like a train. He said 2,100 pounds dry.
My cam/headers Z does 520 rwhp, and honestly, I thought my car feels faster. Am I crazy, or do you think I could hang with this Cobra?
Regardless, enjoyed my first ride in a Shelby Cobra!

The big question, from a standing start, is - does your car have traction control? If it does, it has a distinct advantage over the Cobra, which are notorious for having difficulty developing standing start traction. After that it's simple math. His 1,000 weight advantage, in 2 'equally' powerful cars, wins out.

i had the opportunity to drive one of these recently... it was a really fun car but miserable to drive. It was stupid loud and since im a taller guy, 6'2 it was really cramped. It did pull pretty well but not "that" much harder than the Z. That being said, im not sure the engine size.
Definitely a cool car and worth the drive.

They are crappy to drive if you are over 5'2".
Friend built a cammed ls6 powered one. It was fun for the 1st 5 minutes then your legs cramp up.

Launch control is pretty cool. You might like to do an impressive smoke burning start, but after the smoke has cleared, you are behind where you could have been. Kinda like a road racer that thinks smooth can't be fast ??
