Clutch swap would eat up a good portion (10-15%) of his overall budget that could be better spent elsewhere.

Clutch is a wear item - yes, wear will probably increase, but based on how OP has described his driving style ("Cars and Coffee"), the stock clutch will probably have several years of service left in it for this particular driver.

It's not like going cheap on valve springs, where failure could cost you the motor. This is more like half-worn tires... where you do burnouts to hurry them along, knowing you'll replace them with something better down the road. The cost difference of now versus later is essentially negligible.

I appreciate the comments, but lets stay on track. ECS doesn't think the clutch is necessary at this point unless something us wrong with it. $2k is a lot and I will wait if I can.

Clutch is a tough call, in that it's not cheap.

Street driving you'll be fine on the stock clutch.

Enough hard launches at that power level though, and probably not.

I changed mine out to an LS9X shortly after my heads and cam package was done, and am glad that I did.

The point is that I like a mean sounding car that I like to drive, and bring to car shows. One could say that about a corvette in general. I am guessing that 75%+ of vette owners don't race at all. Or, maybe just once to see what the car can do.

As a winter project, I did this: original heads ported, ss exhaust valves, springs, guides, lifters, etc. Katech Torquer 110 cam and C5R chain, Halltech 107R intake, ported FAST 102R intake manifold, N/W 102 TB, FAST fuel lines, ARH 1 7/8 ceramic coated headers, ARH x-pipe, race cats, Borla Stinger catbacks, + DRM Bilstein shocks. First fire up done:

Dyno and street tune in this coming Friday. What numbers to expect?

Nice job, pomppe. Good selection of parts. I'm thinking 545 RWHP SAE corrected.

What kind of cams do road racecars run? I dont think they are the super lopy ones you hear at a dragstrip, right?

The cost is hard to calculate, because I have to pay expensive shipping from US to Finland, customs, 24% VAT for goods and shipping, etc. All the parts cost me approx. 45-50 % more, than for You. I also replaced all the coolant hoses, radiator shroud, bolts, gaskets, etc. I think, all the extra parts from Gene was $2000. Heads were done here in Finland, so You can't really compare that to WCCH prices. Everything costs so much more over here. Parts alone has cost me approx. $13000.

As for the labor, I have done everything with my friend, who is a pro mechanic at GM. We have working with the engine all winter, normally Saturday nights, with few beers and some whiskey ( not much ).

Of course I will pay him too, but we have not discussed that yet. I also will have the best tuner in the country on Friday, but I don't know his fees yet. Dyno time is €100 / hour, and we have reservation for all day for 2 Corvettes.

Also, I don't want to calculate the costs too much, it only makes me feel annoyed.

As for the comparison to US , last summer I bought this used 2006 Z06, the price tag was $117,000

One question I have. Have you ever driven a manual with a cam? It can become tedious. That might be something to consider.
