Won't go into reverse sometimes!?!
I've noticed occasionally the reverse gear will not go..... I have to move the car forward or let it roll back a little. I'm assuming this is a synchro issue? I do know that reverse is actually a synchronized gear on the C6Z. Anyone else ever have this issue? Absolutely no other issues with the clutch or transmission. Is there an easy fix or adjustment?

Flushed the fluid in the clutch 5x yesterday, didn't help. I've tried 3rd gear.... I've tried first thru sixth and every combination to no avail.... I'm guessing it will have to go in.
Mike, did they have to pull the trans out to do it? If so I may upgrade the clutch while most of the labor is already done at that point.

How frequently won't it go in. If not often likely normal, if very often or worsening you have an issue. Reverse lock-out solenoid on top of trans possibly. Do a search there are related posts. Any grinds or trouble into 5th ever, you may have thought you missed a shift but actually buzzed reverse because the rev sol is going out and letting it over to hit rev instead of 5th. The sol can help but if the trans/synchros have been damaged enough, its trans work time.

Its on the very top outside, not internal. Not on the side or to be confused with the other solenoid(s), CAGS, 1st to 4th. There is an updated PN available too. The new style is smaller. They can be replaced with the trans fully in position but it is a PITA to get at, blindly by feel, and you need to use a very small drive for the attaching bolt. Not to be confused with the other solenoids, CAGS, 1st to 4th. PM me with your email if you want and I'll send a detailed doc on install and issues... How many miles on the trans and what year Z?

I suppose I'll try to switch over to Redline or Amsoil fluids this weekend to see if it helps at all. If not I'm leaning towards replacing the tranny with someone parting out a car before I spend more than a replacement to have a synchro done.

Another master clutch cylinder problem. The GM master is absolute junk! Tick is the best replacement but not an easy install!

This has nothing to do with the master cylinder. It goes into all gears, moving or not, except reverse sometimes. I've noticed that if the car rolls back even a couple inches it goes right into reverse. Going forward a little or a lot doesn't help. It can be really annoying when you need to back into a parking spot and people are waiting behind you to pass.... you're sitting there trying to get the damn thing to go into reverse and it won't go!
One trick I've learned that works almost every time to prevent it from acting up (doesn't act up every time I try) is to move forward and instead of stopping, hit the brake hard to where the car would rock to a stop and let off before the backward rock stops.... this causes the car to roll back an inch or two at least and it goes right in. Figured I'd share with anyone else who has this issue.
I'm going to have it checked out and if it's a big job I'll replace the whole transmission from a low-mileage car vs messing with the risk of causing other issues from a dissassembly.
