Bought my first vet at 28 and my 2nd at 33. The z06 is a dream car for many. I don't think it looks like an old mans car at all.

Not THAT is impressive ... nearly 82 years old and driving a Z06!

Let's see, at 66 that gives me another 16+ years to enjoy these cars!

STIGMA?!

Its all relative.

I bought my first corvette a 1966 coupe in 1984 (my dailey driver was a 68 cutlass). I was very early 20's.
My friends at that time were buying BMW's and Honda's- the young person thing to do. My friends with the BMW's and honda's thought I was stupid.

So its not a matter of age, its a matter of maturity and the vision to see greatness at any age as opposed to the alternative of following the masses like a lemming following other lemmings off the side of cliff.

a New corvette ain't cheap, Old guys have had the opportunity to work, Save and barter cars for a few more years than young guys. As a result they have a more money to spend. Hence the appearance that newer corvette Z06's are for old guys.

Well, I'm 21, almost 22 years old. I just bought my 07 Z to complement my f1 procharged 98. So, to me it seems safe to say that these cars can be enjoyed by both the young and young at heart!

If you were 28 in '68, that would make you 72 now...

A few things:

1) Loved Vettes since I was 10 and my next door neighbor had a green 1980 C3 (she still lives next to my parents and it is now red);
2) In HS, I rented a 1985 C4 for a formal dance (actually, had an over-21 rent it for me). Everyone thought I was a God;
3) Got my first Vette at 44 a year ago. I was looking at Tahoes and my 69-yr-old mom (who has a 2010 Camaro SS said they were ugly and get something I love)
4) I get a lot of looks from young people;
5) How the hell can an 18-25-year old afford a Vette? Maybe that's why;
6) What is this supposedly cool, beautiful sports car that 18-25-year-olds prefer? A GTR? Fugly. A Nissan Z? Fugly. A Boxter? Fugly and no performance;
7) By the time most people hit middle age and can afford a sports car, they are married and need a back seat so they get a German sedan (or a divorce);
8) A 2-seater sports car says, a) I'm single or b) I am rich enough to have 3 cars or c) my kids are college graduates and drive 6).

I bought my 06 Z06 last febuary when i was 21yrs old. I thought it was funny because when ever i was at the gas station people would ask if it was my dads car. BTW i paid for it all by myself without help from parents thanks to being active duty army!

I got mine last year at 29. I worked a corporate gig and waited tables at night for two years to save up and bought a not-perfect condition ride cash.

People think I'm rich. It's hilarious.

And ya most people think corvette owners are complete d-bags. Which is why the character I portray in my Z06 drift video is a dbag who knows nothing about cars (this where da turbo's go - points at alternator lol).

Default 55 and this is 5th Vette

I bought my first of 3 C4s at 33. By FAR the best is the 2011 C6 Z06/Z07.
Based on what I see it is an older guys car. The whole disco craze with the C4 really hurt our image as well as the first wave of small import hop up cars mid 90s. Things are starting to get better with all the wins that Corvette Racing is getting against the BMWs, Ferrari, and the like. To be cool in So Ca you have to look good and be FAST. The Z06 is helping but still to many rich plumbers as they say....... Sorry if that upsets some but it is the truth. The C7 will help. Vette is on the right road. Some well educated successful kids with their M3s are getting blown away Z06s and that also helps. Mind you, this is all So Ca based opinion.

Mine has higher miles but I wouldn't change it for the world. I love the car and I was able to enjoy it. It now sits in the garage a lot more and is not my daily driver, mainly my stress reliever.
I will be getting married this year but my fiance is also a car nut and has a 2000 TA so she understands she has to share me with my vette.

You bought a 70k car making 9.25 an hour? How did you pull that one out of your a$$?
