Default I'm covered?

I'm about to buy a Z06 2009 with 11,000 miles, seller says that the car is covered by warranty for 5/100 powertrain because the basic 3 years already expired. This covers any problems with the engine or transmission?

I appreciate your prompt response to go to make the buy today or tomorrow.

2009 Z06 Cyber Gray, Chrome Wheels, Nav, 2ZL, new Invos with 11k miles for 52,000 sounds fair?

Is this an extended warranty and is it GM?

3 years is the Bumper to Bumper I believe and the powertrain is 5 years? Actually that's exactly what it is. 5 years from your in-service date on your vehicle history.

Don't go over 48k IMO

Is the original warranty, does it has to be extended to cover 5 years for powertrain?

I offered 47, they lowered from 54,900 to 51,750 and dont want to go lower, they took the Z in trade for ZR1, so dont know if they have margin.

But I like the color, all I have been seen in Cyber Grey are listed in internet for over 50,000.

No, the powertrain is 5 years from the in-service date. It's not extended.

But I definitely would not pay that price. Up to you, you will know what's best for you.

The purchase date is July 2009, so it will be covered until July 2014 for any issue with the LS7?

I'm making my last effort to get it for 50k.

As far as I understand, yes. You should call your local GM dealership service, tell them the VIN, and find out 100%.

That's how I did it for mine.

Honestly nice car!

I'd let them sit on it for a while and leave them with an offer of 48k for the car W/GMPP.

Make sure it hasn't been tuned because it might void warranty.

Here's the warranty's on the 2009, also explains what they cover...

If the car is a GM CPO you should get a one year/12K mile B2B warranty. If it is CPO then I think the car qualifies for coverage under the GMPP. It it does then make sure it is a multi year, 0 deductible GMPP. It is January and Vette sales are at their yearly seasonal low all over the country. $48K including a 3 year, xxxx mile GMPP sounds about right.

If it's the manufacturer's warranty, then the bumper to bumper goes from 36 months or 36K miles from the date the car was put into service.

The power train goes for 60mos or 100K miles from the date the car was put into service.

As long as it's not tuned or modified in any way, or does not fail "off road" as in on a racetrack or violates any other of their stipulations, then yeah, you should be good until July 2014.

if it's the right car, local and mint, then why lose the deal for a thou or two ?? buy it and enjoy life. Try the 'split the difference' method, works most of the time. In your case, about $900 more........go for it.

I agree that all the info above is correct except the advise to ask for GMPP extended warranty - that would be great, except GMPP is not available after the 3yr/36k miles has expired. You will have the power train warranty out to 5yr/100k miles unless the engine has been modified (tuned, cam, supercharger, etc). An aftermarket cold air intake or cat-back exhaust should not void your power train warranty. Headers don't necessarily void the warranty, but people usually get a tune along with headers.

Any additional CPO B2B warranty would be nice, but I wouldn't pay a lot extra for it. The big expense on these cars are power train related with the exception air conditioning, and I haven't heard of many major problems with the C6 A/C.

Sounds like a nice car.

Enjoy - Jim

Thanks Jim. I agree is way expensive, but also agree I wont let it go for + - 2000 usd. I did not get a call back today with my offer

How they will know car is tuned? If I have hptuners, can install original file if something goes wrong. Also, how can I be sure is not tuned yet?

Thanks every one for your advises.

There will not be a Z model for a while yet. Standard C7 production will not begin until July/August. There might be a Z for 2015 model year, but the current standard C7 will not out perform a C6Z06/ZR1. With 450 hp....yes it will be lighter than a standard C6, but will not exceed a Z model (C6).

It's a 427 coupe, desired by many.

I see you are in Texas, I am too. I just picked up an 09 Z with 3LZ interior with 10,000 miles for 50K in San Antonio. Base warranty was expired but powertrain is in place until April 2014/100K. I had been looking at Z's for the past 2 months from Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio. Most of them were higher than what I wanted to pay, but the bad part was that most looked like they had been ragged on. I was amazed that dealers were not trying to detail these better off than they were. My car was a local trade in, wasn't modded, VIN checked back clean at the GM house, and they gave me what I wanted on my trade.

I agree with what Tim414 just stated, the Z06 pool is about to close and we don't truly know when it will re-open. They aren't going to appreciate, that is for sure, but I think the slide down will slow down a little. Base C6's are going to take it on the chin, GS's too, but I think the Z06 and ZR1 are going to weather the the C7 introduction.

Same here, looking all over Texas and 50k for low mile 2009 seems to be the market price.

They called me today with a discount off 300 usd . I rise my offer to 49,999.99 Lets see tomorrow if they want to sell.
