Found new Interior lighting feature this morning
So, I have always associated the dimming of the gauge lighting and the "night mode" on the GPS to signal that the headlights have turned on (auto mode).
So it was raining on my way to work this morning and the headlights were on. Then all of a sudden the gauge lights brighten and the GPS screen went into "day mode", so I figured the headlights turned off too. So I went to manually turn back on the headlights and discovered that they were still on.
I had no idea that the lighting system in the car would be intuitive enough to go to day mode for the gauge/gpslighting, while still keeping the headlights on.
Pretty cool.
Just thought I would share

When the wipers are on for something like 30 or so seconds the headlights come on. In many/most states this puts you in compliance with the law. This function is independent of the auto headlamp circuit, which is the controller for the interior display lighting.
This is probably in the Owner's Manual some place, but we are guys and who reads the OM?

you want to know what else is weird about this scenario?
I've noticed that when the fog lights are on but headlights off the lights on the PTM/Mag ride dial don't work.
they work in the day, the night, anytime just now when the fogs are on but not head lights. strange!
