[Z06] c7 or boxster s (MERGED)

completely different animals...boxster s would be a step down IMO. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice car and would be in the hunt for an affordable sports car, but wouldn't hold a candle to the new c7. Regardless, it's impossible to compair without tangeable seat time in both

GM could barely build a 300HP anything in the 80's, but aside from that, I wouldn't wait for Porsche to build a Boxster that had a 911 powerplant in it... The 911 motors are a pretty easy swap into the Boxster/Cayman.

I agree, but Porsche will never allow a Boxster/Cayman that outperforms a 911. It'd be sorta like GM building a 300HP Fiero in the '80s; gotta protect that halo car.
If I could only have one, I'd have bought the Boxster. It's (IMO) a more fun car to drive on a regular basis, but there'd be times where I'd wish I had the V8 power.
So I got the 427, then I ordered a BRZ (which should finally arrive next month after almost six months of wait) for a daily driver. Kinda get some of both worlds that way.

Saw the new Boxster S in person just a few days ago. It is drop dead sexy and as always the interior is first rate, but I would want at least another 100 hp in that car.

The Boxter S will feel absolutely anemic after driving a Z06
Some of the 911's are terrific cars but the Boxter doesn't inspire me at all.

boxster or c7
Don't let these guys fool you. I too am waiting for the c7 after selling the Z. I have a 2012 Cayman R in the meantime. These cars can fly on the road course. Zero to sixty with the R is 4.4 sec so it is no slouch. The Boxster S will also be close.
They are different cars for sure, but do I miss the horsepower, no. I have seen the R's on the race track and with a good driver can beat the z in the corners but loses some( of course) on the straightaways. As much as I like the Z ( had 5 of them), there are other cars to enjoy also.
Get the Boxster, enjoy it and get the new Z in a couple of years. You won't be disappointed....Mike

I agree with others. It's what you'll be driving so it your decision Both are nice in their own ways. I really love our Z but ...
I'm also looking to see what to move onto as I bought the Z06 for a care free fun car which it has been one of my worst experiences and hassles in a long time. Imagine paying, what they ask for, and one has to do their own enginering work or tear down to be reliable.
I just don't need this crap/hassle now. C7 never ever ... I'll see them in Carlisle. Quality control my ....
It's been too long and too little (nothing of value) from GM ever said.
Sorry for the rant but back to the OP .... I'd switch and move on and never look or go back ......... WHAT A SHAME
