It would have been half that spread or less if you had run from 2nd instead of 3rd. At 70mph, you basically were out of the powerband from the start.

I'm thinkin' he got the 1st 2 cars within seconds of the hit, then as you came on song, you slowed it, and perhaps even stopped his pull.

You will absolutely take him with a good HCI combo

It was a good run till i shifted and let out it in fourth i was looking at the tachometer at like 6000-6800 and he was pulling away... not a murder but a few cars for sure..... i would say in comparison it was like a Lt1 Z28 running a 98 ls1 car

Why would you be in 3rd gear from a 70 roll?

I've parked my '06 Z until all this dropped valve stuff gets sorted out...but my '03 Cobra 'vert is actually just as much fun to drive, if not more. and I don't have to worry about dropping a stupid valve. On a sunny, 65* day, with all the fall colors, driving top-down thru the mountains...life is good!

And the Cobra is PLENTY quick for me. Glad I didn't trade it in when I bought the 'Vette!

70 mph is just getting into the good area in 2nd gear at somewhere around 5500 rpm.... thats really where this motor really starts to come into its own. 3rd gear is just plain wrong.

Here's a vid to give you an idea.

Second. You can reach 60 mph in 1st gear though you're probably going to hit redline, so 70 in second gear would be the gear I'd start in. I know from a roll if I'm anywhere from 50 to 90 I'm in second gear winding up to hit 3rd gear well over 100mph and hard.

it is what it is. I wouldn't sweat it. With enough money, any car can beat another. If you feel the need to beat your friend, mod your car and do so.

I saw your car at the show and it looked like the rear tire had fallen off! LOL
