Default I'm getting a new LS7 apperently ...

Turns out my low idling oil pressure was due to a bad main bearing. The service writer said they " didn't like what they found" when they went into the engine. He didn't seem too knowledgable so I m going in to talk to the tech on Monday. He was the one who supposedly lobbied for me to have a new one put in. I wonder what he found. Do I care ? My new engine arrived Friday. Maybe this one has magic valves.

Welcome to the New LS7 club. Mine had 30K miles and dropped a valve. Should be getting it back Monday, hopefully.

Chevrolet has TSB's outlining engine replacement, including replacing these items. The bigger question is to make sure the transmssion is topped off after install.

Do you have the TSB detailing this? I don't think the dealer is replacing my sump. I'd like to know the TSB# so I can have the dealer look it up.

No, only about 100* turn, needs more than that.

I presume that was at normal 165-200* oil temp? I saw 17 at idle with 260* oil temp using M1 5-30 which is why I went to M1 0W-40 and had 255* idle at 24 PSI which I am satisfied with.

Oil temps were running 170s at that those pressures. I was running 5-30

and yet the owners manual says no problem at idle until 7 PSI, great guidance from GM.

Just drove my 09 with a new motor home from the dealer. 185 degree oil temp, 22 PSI idle. Cold start idle was 64 psi @ 70 degree oil temp. and now I need a new battery...
